Report ID 53401268

There are several empty sub-directories in my main zotero directory which zotero can't seem to get rid of. Error messages are as follows:

------
[JavaScript Error: "Download request 2/T76EHJRT failed"]

[JavaScript Error: "Win error 5 during operation removeEmptyDir on file C:\Users\TB\[...]\zotero\storage\T76EHJRT (Access is denied.
)" {file: "(unknown module)" line: 0}]
-------

The folder is on a location that is also synchronized to Google Drive, but only if this process is triggered manually (obviously not while Zotero is synchronizing, so there is no other process locking the folder). Deleting the empty folders manually works without a problem.

Any thoughts...?
  • We can't help with anything stored in a cloud storage folder. Zotero is getting an access-denied error trying to delete the folder — that's all we can tell you.
  • Also, while it's separate from this, it looks like you have your entire data directory in a cloud storage folder, which you absolutely shouldn't do and we won't provide any support for.

  • Thanks for the quick reply. For this particular situation it does not matter that the data directory is on a cloud storage folder. I know that this is advised against, but the synchronization is dormant and only triggered whenever I want to do a quick backup (during which I'd obviously not touch any data inside the whole zotero hierarchy). Which means that for all intents and purposes, this location is just an ordinary folder on my harddrive.

Actually, it looks as if the error was caused by Windows "Controlled folder access" feature which, in conjunction with my Virus Scan (Avast), was blocking access to the files.

Just in case somebody else runs into the same problem...
