Issue: one writer's mutile works in the same year does not show a,b... after the year

Hello Folks,

I just came across an issue: I had two references in the same year from one author, one is a chapter from an editted book and another is an artible or book. I referenced them in text together under one name. However, there is no difference between the two references in text. I mean the year showed 2009 for instance, just repeated. There is not 2009a, 2009b seen in the text. I double checked. The name of the author in two references is identical.
Does anyone else come across the same issue or do you know how to address it, please?

Try switching to a different citation style and back. If that does not fix it, which citation style?

Thank you very much for your advice. I use APA. I tried your advice in a different file with a different style. Then I opened a new file with APA again, then it worked. Finally, I updated the reference in my original file, then it appears what it should be.
