iOS and desktop apps highlight differently

I have a document where the highlighting behavior is different in the iOS and desktop apps. This has happened in other documents as well, but I never bothered to capture the differences until now.

If I highlight using the deskop app (6.0.18) I get: https://postimg.cc/G8DJsFkr

If I highlight using the iOS app (1.0.7) I get: https://postimg.cc/jCz4xhx4

If I highlight from the desktop app, it does get rendered correctly in the iOS app (no gaps). If I highlight in iOS, it does get rendered with the gaps in the desktop app.
