New discussion list: zotero-legal

I have started a discussion list for those interested in improved legal support in Zotero. The list is a google group with an open sign-up policy, and you can join through the group's web page.

The group aims to provide a forum for discussion of Zotero user issues by Zotero users with legal experience or requirements, without reference to the technical underpinnings of the data model on which the system is based. If you have a continuing interest in extending Zotero's utility in legal writing, please feel free to sign up.

The reason for setting up a separate area for discussion is not to divert traffic from this forum, but to complement it. Legal systems and legal citation styles have an integrated quality, with one citation or referencing issue tending to have implications for other parts of the data model on which Zotero is based. Forum comments have an intermittent, isolated quality, and as many of us in law (myself included) are not expert in RDF data modelling and the like, the energy behind particular requests can be lost at the boundary between the two realms of expertise. The group's web area offers wiki functionality, through which we can distill out the result of discussions, express the structure and detail of legal requirements, in a form likely to be more helpful to system designers, and so have a larger impact on development in this important area.
