I tried using zotero for the first time today (seems like an extra fun day to do so based on the forum) and wanted to test adding a citation to google docs. I authenticated it previously (not sure how), turned off and on the firefox plugin, and restarted everything. Updated all the software/plugins. Currently the document is frozen on "Zotero is updating your document. Please wait..." with a white box over my faded white document, which I assume is where the error messages are referring to.

That suggests that the Zotero Connector can't connect to Zotero at all, though it's not showing the normal error message. Do you have Zotero open on this computer? Are you able to use the Save to Zotero button on other websites?

Can you restart Zotero and your browser and provide a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) from the Zotero Connector for reloading Google Docs and trying to add a citation?
  • I was running into the "Zotero is updating your document. Please wait..." message in Google docs and found this post. I had previously used Zotero cite-while-you-write with Word but not with Google. After giving Google the permissions but not having citations show up in my Google doc, I tried inserting citations into a Word doc. The items I selected for Word showed up in the Google doc. I had had several Word docs open on my computer and after I closed all of them the Google integration worked fine. It might not be angelac4's exact scenario (from years ago!), but I'm sharing in case it helps anyone else.
