Better Bibtex: pinned key and duplicates

I have a set of duplicates with each having a different citation key.
One of these citation keys has a pin.
How does the merging work if I select to keep a key that is not the pinned one? Thanks!

By default, the pinned key is lost, and the existing key remains non-pinned.

I see now. So the pinned citation only prevents Zotero from renaming it when modifying the independent entry.
