Can't add/edit citations in Google Docs

  • Hi, I have the same problem. It worked fine until I added more editors who also use Zotero. I couldn't add/edit citations or do anything with zotero after I added another editor. It has also stopped working for Microsoft Word, and previously worked well.

  • Look through Zotero windows, there may be a citation dialog open for a previous operation that you have not closed. Otherwise restart Zotero and try again.
  • I have restarted zotero and Google docs/Word several times. A processing bar comes the first time I attempt to add through zotero, but it never converts to the citation bar. Thereafter, I close the processing bar. Clicking on add citation on zotero after that does nothing.
  • We have to debug Word and Google Docs separately.

Restart Zotero and Word, then produce a Debug ID for an attempt to cite in Word. Do the same and produce another Debug ID for Google Docs.

This is the debug ID for docs
  • Could you produce a Report ID from the Zotero Connector in your browser?

Problem: After making a group library and adding an editor (who also uses Zotero), I am unable to use any of the functionality of Zotero. (it is fine for my co-editor)

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open Zotero software on desktop
    2. Open folder under Group library
    3. Open Google docs to the document we're working on
    4. Click on Zotero - Add/edit citations
Two things occur in this case
    a) A pop up comes saying 'zotero is updating your document. Please wait..' and a pop up from Zotero which says 'Processing' comes with the green bar filled. This doesn't change for long periods of time (up to 15 minutes)
    b) Nothing happens after I close the processing tab and re try the same process
  • Could you restart Zotero and Chrome and produce a Debug ID from the connector instead? Sorry, it may feel like we're running you around in circles, but we're trying to discern which part of Zotero is broken here.

Also, can you insert citations in a new Google Docs document after restarting Zotero?

For some reason, I am now able to enter citations. Thank you for your help! I have attached the report and debug IDs for your references, if required.
