Connection problems

Hey,

I have connection issues with my zotero. It looks like every connection attempt to the internet does not succeed, neither the check for updates nor searching for an ISBN nor the sync. It worked once, but because I did not use zotero for a while, I cannot tell exactly what broke it (maybe the update to Ubuntu 22.04?).

I read through the knowledge base artice (https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/connection_error) and tried to localize the error:

- The issue occurs with my old profile and also if I create a new profile.
- It occurs on both computers at work and at home. Both have Ubuntu 22.04 installed. At least at home, there is no proxy.
- It does not occur on a Windows pc at home.
- I can access various zotero URLs from command line.

If anyone might have an idea, what the source of the issue is, in which direction I might look or knows any further debugging steps to further localize the issue, I would really appreciate it.

  • Can you generate debug output for Zotero startup using the "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option and email it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
  • I've sent a debug output to the e-mail address :-)
  • OK, that shows Zotero attempting to make a direct connection to the internet with no proxy. If that's correct for this system, something else on the system (e.g., firewall or security software) is blocking Zotero's network connection. If it's not correct, see the linked page for fixing the proxy settings.

    (You also don't say if you how you installed Zotero. If it's a third-party package, there might be some sort of network sandboxing.)

    it took me a while, but I solved the issue. The network were ok. After removing every bit of Zotero from the computer and reinstalling it, I could sync everything. Thank you for you effort, I'm really glad it works again :-)
