I am trying to redownload Zotero on my new macbook air but everytime I try and run the file it comes up with the message - 'unable to check for updates', 'please check your internet and try again'.
I have tried re downloading and I have checked my proxy settings on the wifi but nothing is amiss.
What do I do?

    You'd want to see Connection Error for the general network problem, but to start you can just reinstall Zotero from the download page.

    I have turned off all proxies and have re downloaded multiple times

    All the information we can provide is on that page. This is a problem with the network connection on your computer, not a problem in Zotero itself. If this is an institutional computer, you should ask your IT department to look at that page and help you.

    But also, just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, if Zotero can't connect to the network, that wouldn't stop you from using Zotero — it would just break various internet-connected functionality. Is that what you're talking about?
