Apple pencil/iPad

Can someone post step-by-step instructions (for dummmies) for using a PDF annotating app (iAnnotate or PDF Expert etc) on an iPad with an apple pencil (they allow more robust handwriting annotations) with Zotero? I have ZotFile but it's hard to understand where to store the files and how to know what you've read and what you haven't. If I read it on the ipad, how is that communicated on the zotero main library? I have 2000 citations so hard to remember any one paper. Thanks!
