Using Zotero on a dual-boot Vista/Ubuntu

I have recently decided to try Ubuntu. Although my first impressions are favorable I am a bit reluctant to use it as a main OS.
My Zotero library is on a Windows partition and I was able to access it from Ubuntu. However, zotero cannot open the pdf files because it seems that the file association paths do not conform to Ubuntu.

The question:
Assuming that I prefer to keep zotero on a Windows partition, is it possible to use it from Ubuntu and be able to open the pdf files directly when I click the button 'View File'?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, but you'll need to import rather than link to files. (In other words, use Store Copy of File, Create New Item from Current Page, or a translator that saves files. You could use file drag-and-drop but that's temporarily broken on Linux.)

There's a thread about adding the ability to set a file root in each Zotero installation and use relative paths from that, but, if that's ever implemented, it probably wouldn't be for a while.
