How to create a new item type: "working paper"

Hallo, how can I create a new item type that is not already part of the item types that I can choose from, in Zotero? I would like to create an item type called "working paper" or "paper". Where and how do I set up the specs for a new item type in Zotero?
  • That is currently not possible.

How do you want the citation to look and what style are you currently using? Then we can help more specifically.
Generally, I'd go with "Report" most likely though.
  • Published example (title italicized) for paper/working paper

Breitenbach E 2006. Gender statistics: An evaluation. Working paper series 51. Manchester: Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Unpublished example (title not italicized) for paper/working paper

Belzer D & Autler G 2002. Transit oriented development: Moving from rhetoric to reality. Paper for the Brookings Institution Center on Urban and Metropolitan Policy and the Great American Station Foundation. Washington, DC.

I'm using Stellenbosch Harvard citation style, but the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies has further deviations from the pure Stellenbosch Harvard style (as shown above).
  • Use "Preprint" for Working papers (that's what they are, effectively). I'm not sure the Stellenbosch Harvard style supports that category yet, so we might have to modify the style, but in terms of data entry, that's what it's for
  • Thank you very much, I will try that. :)
  • Thank you for this!
