"Add to Note" grayed out in PDF reader

Oh, I forgot to add this: I was hoping to have found a work around using the 'add to note' button which appears when marking text in pdf: you can choose for a certain colour, but also for 'add to note'. I thought: ah, now I can filter notes and labels, but somehow the button is unavailable (remains gray).

To use "Add to Note", you need to open a note in the right-hand pane of the PDF reader.
