RTF Scan = multiple footnote numbers.

I have been playing with RTF for a while now, and every time, instead of just having one footnote number, I end up with three (3) footnote numbers.

For instance, the original document would say:
8 Ibid.

After an RTF scan it says:
8 88 Ibid.

Looking closer at the numbers, the first one is styled correctly, using the document footnote style. The second one is the same font but 9 pts, the third one is Times 12 pts.

Help! I have a document with over 150 citations and can't possibly fix this by hand. I've done several searches without finding someone with this same issue.
I'm on Mac, using Word 2008 and Zotero 2.0 in Firefox.
  • As a preface - RTF scan hasn't received much attention from developers for quite some time now. In my opinion it's not ready to use for serious work.

But for what it's worth - are those only footnotes that Zotero creates, or are those footnotes that you put in manually?
  • The first number on the footnote is created using the footnote feature in Word. The last two Zotero creates.

Glad I'm finding this fun fact out now before I'm to deep into writing my thesis...
  • I just downloaded NeoOffice and the problem does not exist there. So strange... perhaps it's simply my copy of Word needs to be updated?
