Start Firefox with Zotero open/maximized

I would like to start Firefox directly with Zotero opened/maximized since I use another browser for regular browsing. A "Add an entry from [the website URL you are going to enter]" button would also be nice.

At least for your first request kajeling has helpfully written a plugin, zoterename, that does exactly what you request (among other things).

  • how would you use the second button you describe? It's not clear to me why you wouldn't want to go to the page since it is going to download anyway (for the snapshot).

@Bionatsci: Thanks! I think I wait until the next Zotero release and then set zotero://fullscreen as the default URL.

@adamsmith: Finding an interesting site in my main browser. Copy URL. Go to FF/Zotero and add it as an item. Add notes and fill in content by switching between my main browser and FF/Zotero (copy and paste).

Thinking about this I would also like to see an option which allows me to set up a different browser for viewing snapshots.
  • I would request a small tweak to the new fullscreen option. When you go fullscreen from an existing Zotero window, the title bar becomes "Zotero"; but when you open with the zotero://fullscreen command, the title bar remains "Mozilla Firefox". This makes it harder to use as a standalone, since it's hard to identify (from the taskbar, etc) which is the Zotero window. Can you make the title bar read "Zotero" in this instance?
