How to cite an author/chapter in book edited by another?

Using Chicago 16th full note, how does one cite the author of a piece in a work edited by a different author? Thanks in advance. rhl
  • Thanks AdamSmith. Works well.
  • hi guys - I cannot seem to be able to edit a cSL style. I have tried these instructions

    https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step

and I can download the file but once downloaded cannot open it and edit it in any program. any ideas? thanks.
  • try the visual editor linked from that page. That also has a code editor window if you prefer to edit the XML directly.
  • thankyou very much!

more questions if you have the time,

I would like to add fields to both the intext citations and the bibliography citations, is that possible? So for the intext I want it to include a year and for the bib I want it to include a last accessed date. IS this possible? pls tell me how if so?

    Thankyou
  • There's some instructions here: http://support.mendeley.com/customer/en/portal/articles/895771-getting-started-with-the-visual-csl-editor

unfortunately, don't think anyone here will have the time to give you step-by-step instructions.
  • thats ok thankyou. I just wanted to make sure it could be done as I don't want to go back to endnote. thanks again for your help
  • these instructions are for mendeley, are they the same as Zotero ie: one company?
  • different company&product, same citation styles.
  • I have a similar question but this doesn't quite answer it. In my field there are many edited volumes. For chapters (entered as book sections) one can add the authors of the section, but there is no way ,that I can see, to add the editors of the volume itself. There should be a field for authors (of chapter) and a separate one for editors (of volume). Am I missing something?
  • This https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/edited_volumes_and_book_chapters does answer that question (see the last sentence) if I understand you correctly. If not, you may need to rephrase and I could be missing something.
