Importing Chicago Manual Style records

When I attempt to import bibliographic data formatted Chicago Manual Style, even data generated by Zotero, I get "the selected file is not in a supported format."

Why is this? How can I solve the problem?

    "Import" is designed for bibliographic exchange formats - BibTeX, RIS, MARC. There is no good way to import formatted bibliographies, though if you must see
