We'll fix the issue in dark mode and also intensify the colors slightly in light mode in the next Zotero beta version. Thanks for reporting.

Right now I see it is only possible to change dark/light mode on a PDF by going to View>[checkbox] Use Dark Mode for Content,

The faint grey/green default colour is impossible to see in dark mode. I find myself having to open documents in Adobe Reader when I want to search for something, which is a bit of a productivity kill

As indicated in the title, in dark mode, it's very hard to see search results in the built-in PDF viewer. The reason is that the highlight color is too dark (almost identical to the background color).

In the reader (e.g., when reading a PDF), you can choose to disable dark mode for the document's content from the menu bar (View -> Use Dark Mode for Content). Is this what you're looking for?

Just to have a unity with the dark mode interface. It looks like a bug to have a white background with a dark interface when Use Dark Mode for Content is uncheck in dark mode.

Hello. Previously I used Zotero 6 with Zotero Night plugin. It had not only light and dark variations, but also dark gray one. And it was so much more comfortable for my eyes to read.

Menu dropdowns are now readable in Zotero dark mode. Light mode for apps is changed as well but look acceptable as well.

Just upgraded to Zotero 7 and I love the dark mode. However, when I select the “Automatic” in the color scheme, it does not work (it should switch dark as the OS is right now, but it stays in white).

You don't say if "View -> Use Dark Mode for Content" is selected. Is it the case?
