I don't see a way to get this done -- ZotFile handles these as exclusive alternatives. I don't think anyone has ever even asked about this before.

1. How? I don't know how to do what you suggested with Zotfile. Where are the instructions for doing that, and, can Zotfile do this for ALL attachments at once (batch), or do they have to be done one

Convert them to stored files using Zotero's built in functionality, then use Zotfile to move them to a target folder and link.
