    Just FYI, you could have used ZotFile to move the PDFs into an arbitrary folder and rename them based on metadata (e.g. author-date-title.pdf) or place them into subdirectories based on metadata

    Still, this does not explain why before I disabled Zotfile, it worked for Zotero My library and not Group Libraries.

    Remind: On my Debian computer with iceweasel, Zotfile isn't moving and renaming attachments (pdfs) even if the settings say to do so. Instead, the attachments are send to zotero cloud and not renamed.

    I do understand the difference. So what you're saying is that zotfile is only responsible of turning zotero's stored attachment to a linked attachment, and the fact that zotero doesn't delete the link
