Another thing working against the migration might be that some people are satisfied with the current forum and do not see the need for a change? This is of course my subjective opinion.

Check this page to identify the origin of the problem: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/existing_citations_not_detected

Is somebody working on fixing the Zenodo translator? I didn't see any open issue or pull request.
-
Are you sure that the authors are properly separated in the Zotero record for your first reference?
-
Indeed such long author lists are common, but Zotero should be able to manage that without too many problems. Can you give an example, and explain exactly how you were trying to import it?
-
It is not a workaround, it is the official way to add web pages as references. Adding them manually would be more tedious, various fields would be difficult to fill... in other words, the result would be inferior.
-
"n.d." stands for "no date", it isn't related to the author name. Try to identify a publication date on your web page (maybe a date for the last update, or copyright year...) and add that manually to your record since it wasn't captured automaticall…

The Zotero developers rarely (if at all) communicate about release dates, as they don't want to cause such expectations among users... :-) The current test version for Zotero 7 is beta 51, so my guess is that it is becoming fairly stable. But it mig…

Thanks for the link! I wasn't implying that you were the only person with this type of problem, I was objecting to what sounded like an excessive generalization ("the messy metadata that we get in academic publishing"). Very often, it is possible to…
-
I cannot comment on the feasibility of your feature request, but I can say that it is usually possible to get quite clean metadata. Can you give specific examples where the detected document type was incorrect?
-
You can check the progress of the issue on Github: https://github.com/scitedotai/scite-zotero-plugin/issues/55

Right now the development focus is clearly on Zenodo 7, so there probably won't be any progress on the Android app for a while. The first Z7 beta was announced on May 21st https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/105094/announcing-the-zotero-7-beta# and…

https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/item_types_and_fields The Bill or Hearing item types are hopefully what you need.

I suppose creating all entries for multiple chapters should be relatively simple, as long as the web translator for the publisher's platform is good enough for that. If there are problems with this, could you post a link to an ebook where it doesn't…
-
I do not know how dividing a thesis into one file per chapter makes it more difficult to re-arrange content between chapters. Open the chapters simultaneously, cut and paste from one to the other, maybe force a refresh every now and then... what pai…

I supposed it could be done via an import translator https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/translators/coding#import_translators , if anyone feels inspired to write it.

@mrinschen In the future, don't delete your posts: the thread is still there, it can be informative for others, and the answers can be difficult to understand without the original question.
-
If you have checked all useful boxes in Zotero, the issue might be on the server side and perhaps there isn't much you can do except ask the administrators to fix their configuration. This very old thread still looks relevant to me: https://forums.z…

I'm pretty sure this functionality will be added to Zotera at some point. I think the main reason why it isn't included yet is that it will take a while to discuss what "smartly" means in this context :-)
-
You can merge the records, then simply refresh the bibliography in your document: https://www.zotero.org/support/duplicate_detection#merging_duplicates

@sjsunderland the translator has been reviewed by the experts, improved thanks to their feedback, and today it has become part of the Zotero translators package.

Understood, thanks! Creating a new library isn't necessary, and probably not advisable as far as I know. Collections could be useful in your case: https://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags You could create a collection containing all refer…
-
How did you use Zotero for your previous book? Working on a new book should not be very different: - add new references to your Zotero library while researching your new topic(s) - insert the references into your document(s) while actually writing t…

I don't know who/what says that? Zotero for any platform is available at https://www.zotero.org/download/

Your comments did not feel combative at all (at least to me), no worries about that! We're just trying to point out possible solutions to achieve your goal, hopefully this is useful for you.

Of course, there's a Python library for RDF as well: https://rdflib.readthedocs.io/en/stable/ There are a few code snippets using it to work with Zotero, for example https://gist.github.com/rlskoeser/d18c19a8351d97ca933b64fd26048b98

There is no "lock". Your own library is personal and private. If you want to share references with others (read-only or read & write), use groups: https://www.zotero.org/support/groups

Most likely the authors of these videos haven't updated them to reflect the changes in newer Zotero versions. If you explain in more details what isn't working for you (ideally following these guidelines https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_prob…

If you're using a word processor such as Microsoft Word, use the corresponding plugin to cite references in your documents: https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage If you need to do something else, we'll need more information abo…

As I suspected, the IJLLR web pages are loading correctly in Zotero 7 beta. I'll see what I can do!
