Unfiled items are just not (yet) assigned to any specific collection. That's quite all right, using collections is not mandatory. Duplicated items and how to deal with them: see https://www.zotero.org/support/duplicate_detection Don't delete unfil…

More information will be necessary, see the instructions at https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems

A DOI for software is already allowed. Zotero currently supports DOIs in various reference types using an "Extra" field https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/item_types_and_fields#citing_fields_from_extra Eventually, the DOI will get generalized, the E…
-
The extra field can contain several variables, on separate lines https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/item_types_and_fields#citing_fields_from_extra Does this address your use case? If not, can you describe what you want to achieve?
-
You can right-click on the Zotero plugin button and select a different "Save to Zotero" option. I guess "Web page with snapshot" is what you need here?
-
You should report the problem to the plugin developer.
-
For those who care: the Zotero-OCR plugin is now compatible with Zotero 7 https://github.com/UB-Mannheim/zotero-ocr
-
I think it would be great if the functionality was added in PDF.js (as far as I understand, Zotero is built using that same PDF viewer component as Firefox), rather than just a plugin for our favorite reference management tool.

(sound advice, duly noted)

Apparently the BMJ Open style is not intended to display a DOI - at least as defined in the Zotero style repository; if it's incorrect, feel free to say so. You can switch to a different numeric style that uses DOIs in the bibliography (for your co…

I would just write the sentence differently and avoid the problem entirely. Instead of: In [3], something is.... I would use for example: Smith[3] writes that something is.... (where the number will be in superscript, without any need for manual…

Thanks for yours! I was worried about getting carried away.

As mentioned in the 2nd message of this thread, there is some support for chapter numbers in the current Zotero metadata schema, through an "Extra" field. As for evolutions of the schema itself, we know it is planned, we can guess with reasonable c…

That's the problem: all translators cannot magically support all of these editorial variants, that may be systematic or not on every platform. If you can identify reliable patterns on a given platform, I encourage you to submit an issue on https://…
-
If a translator cannot recognize the chapter number, having a dedicated field in Zotero will not help much - the translator needs to be fixed first (to store the information as an Extra, at least for now). And here I assume that the original metadat…

C'est le comportement normal avec un style de citation numéroté. Il faut juste utiliser le bouton "Add/Edit Bibliography" https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage pour insérer la liste complète des références à la fin du document. …

Good news: you can. You should see a checkbox "import into a new collection" while you import a Bibtex, RIS or similar file. Just uncheck it.

Check the instructions for new style requests: https://www.zotero.org/support/styles#requesting_new_styles
-
That's perhaps not the right way to do it? I think you should merge duplicate records, and the "master" should be the one with the best (most accurate, most complete) metadata. The merged record will then be used automatically by all group members.

You'll find the instructions for new style requests here: https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/REQUESTING.md#requesting-csl-styles

OK, so the sudo chown command has worked (all files and directories belong to steph:staff), that's good. Can you start Zotero now?
-
Please post the exact output of ls -la ~/Zotero now that you have run sudo chown -R steph:staff ~/Zotero

Right, flattened citations would not prevent adding new ones, sorry about that.
-
In general, such problems are at the document level: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/existing_citations_not_detected Does the problem also happen with a new, empty document?
-
It's not a bug, it's the new IEEE requirement https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/460426#Comment_460426

You need to be careful when you transfer a document to or from Google Docs: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/moving_documents_between_word_processors

It has been requested by others, and probably things will happen in the future. At the moment, this can be achieved using custom scripts. If you are interested, see this thread for various examples: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/7707/find-an…

There are no specialized document types for genealogy (or other specific domains) in Zotero, which means it is not the ideal tool for such purposes. There are apparently ways to make it work for you, someone wrote a whole book on the topic ( https:…

You need to create a parent record https://www.zotero.org/support/attaching_files#adding_files_to_your_zotero_library

Your situation sounds like this one: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/101616/cannot-sync-because-creator-name-is-too-long You need to fix these records where the author names were not properly imported for some reason.
