Well, since page numbers no longer make a lot of sense here, different online-only publishers have come up with different terms. PLoS uses the term in their XML files (e.g. in http://biology.plosjournals.org/archive/1545-7885/7/4/pmc/pbio.1000063.x…

Yes. I think you only need to remove the option "disambiguate-add-names" in the citation element. See also: http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/csl_syntax_summary#options

Can you provide some example URLs for 2), while indicating what metadata is missing? Google Scholar isn't the most reliable resource for looking up metadata, so it might be preferable to improve the site translator.

Ah, I see. I mistakenly assumed that the delimiter would also become superscripted in the code I outlined earlier. I guess this then should work correctly:

It would seem to make sense to have these follow the rules for the preference that drops URLs when page numbers are present? Thoughts?Thinking of this a bit more, it's not so easily to implement: quite a few online-only sources do have page numbers …

Fixed some punctuation issues.

Not included here, most academic set-ups also include the date accessed or retrieved.Isn't the "1996, July 15" in the example of Tjowens the accessed-date? Similarly conference papers, reports, articles, and books all have a [Online] format. It wo…

Is what you want described anywhere in the IEEE style guide?: http://www.ieee.org/portal/cms_docs_iportals/iportals/publications/authors/transjnl/stylemanual.pdf

Rather than syncing styles, it might make more sense for Zotero to simply ask to auto-install a style referenced in a document Is it possible to attach the citation style as metadata to the document? That would also work in the case of non-URL-resol…

I based my style on http://www.zotero.org/styles/vancouver, which doesn't include those lines. You can just remove the entire prefix/suffix-part though: then becomes

Can you try this file: http://gist.github.com/raw/90150/e34437061dcc4215b84f5c4328a19824b071b821/vancouver-superscript.csl That one works for me (I made the exact changes as outlined above).

This is a known issue. I proposed a patch, but it hasn't made its way into the system yet (just like these two patches: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/5078/two-bibliography-formatting-problems-with-pubmed-citations/?Focus=22195#Comment_22195): …

There apparently are plans to add a preference to the Word/OpenOffice plugins to make this possible.

I have define the default-locale as en-US at the beginning of the style but I don,t know the usefulness of this command As noted in the documentation, this feature is not yet supported by Zotero. But a new CSL processor is in the works, which should…

Look for a file on your hard drive named "Zotero.dot". (Re)moving this file should remove the toolbar. http://www.zotero.org/support/windows_word_plugin_manual_installation_instructions

You could a) Check whether your modified style is valid (http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/creating_citation_styles#xml_validation), as invalid styles will often not function properly. b) Look at how the "anon" macro's in the AMA (http://www.zotero…

Is the output style in the merged document the same as in the first one?

The local files are zipped when uploaded to save space and to reduce the number of files, which speeds up the syncing. The .prop file contains some metadata on the zip file (http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/4398/unexpected-status-codes/?Focus=189…

Can't reproduce this. What is the value of the Edition field of the item? Is it "3"?

Plus, the layout of webpages is not explicitly defined in the current IEEE style, as is the case for books, patents, theses and chapters. The type for websites is "webpage", so you could add something to the style like: ... just leave this ... (…

However, the AMA style of referencing should be used for any type of manuscript submission. So you want a different style from AMA?

Thinking about this a bit more. Isn't it logical that styles that offer URL-resolvable IDs should always be automatically updated (also from a viewpoint of data-portability)? Users can escape automatic updating by using non-URL (=non-resolvable) IDs.
-
Allow users to choose between 2 and 3, but allow styles to be overwritten via 1, manage styles locally.

Try this: http://gist.github.com/raw/83985/7685755b6ce3f2474d2c48bf08031b53116104e6/APA-no-doi.csl

Fixed. The corrected style will probably appear in the Zotero Style Repository shortly.

You can change the style with a text editor. Some info: http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/creating_citation_styles http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/csl_syntax_summary#formatting So these lines: should become:

What does AJR stand for? I couldn't identify a style with that abbreviation in the Zotero Style Repository (http://www.zotero.org/styles).
