"Press ”+” (plus) on the keyboard within the collections list or items list to expand all nodes and ”-” (minus) to collapse them." (from http://www.zotero.org/support/tips_and_tricks )

@Dan, @adamsmith: should we rename the "Be Civil" heading of http://www.zotero.org/support/forum_guidelines#be_civil to something more neutral like "Etiquette"? A significant fraction of users show indignation at what they perceive as being called o…

I found an example here: http://support.citavi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=3347#p11021 It doesn't like very readable (or concise). I wrote most of the XSLT stylesheet to upgrade CSL 0.8.1 styles to the CSL 1.0 format, which was already a sig…

The APA style that ships with Zotero (https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/apa.csl) automatically localizes, and Icelandic translations come from https://github.com/citation-style-language/locales/blob/master/locales-is-IS.x…

Could it be Icelandic? You can fix this by adding a date to the item's metadata.
-
Which citation style are you using? My guess is that it's the abbreviation for "no date" (in a non-English language) for an author-date citation.
-
There is a third-party plugin for Zotero that is more powerful than its own RTF Scan feature, and well suited for use with Scrivener (and other text editors). See http://zotero-odf-scan.github.io/zotero-odf-scan/ and https://forums.zotero.org/discu…

In most cases you will be better off using groups. Have you already looked into using those? See https://www.zotero.org/support/groups

USING ALL CAPS IS CONSIDERED SHOUTING AND IS HARD TO READ, SO PLEASE DON'T DO THIS. As for your question, see http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#communication_error_or_non-responsive_plugin_buttons . If that doesn't…

It is.

Have you checked the encoding used by JabRef? See the second question ("Q: Does JabRef support Chinese characters?") at http://jabref.sourceforge.net/faq.php .

Put the number in the file name of the PDF? (personally I keep my PDF print-outs sorted alphabetical by author)
-
What do you want to use the number for?

There is a preference in Word that controls field shading. See e.g. "Change the shaded background of fields" at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/insert-and-format-field-codes-in-word-2010-HA101830917.aspx?CTT=1 for Word 2010.
-
That seems very similar to name translations and transliterations as supported by MLZ (although here the relationship would be real name pen name, instead of being locale-based).
-
Just for posterity: the term "Zotero pane" originates from Zotero for Firefox, which by default appears at the bottom of the Firefox browser window (see the screenshot at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Zotero_2.0.9_recognizing_references_on_Wikip…

(although, in this case, ipsita probably should have started a new forum thread to begin with, since his question didn't seem to be directly related to the starting post of the other thread)
-
Probably so, yes? Yes, all significant changes to the spec should be be mentioned on the xbiblio list at some point.
-
The MLA 6th edition CSL style currently hard-codes the "available" string, so it doesn't translate to Icelandic. For properly localized CSL styles, the translations from https://github.com/citation-style-language/locales/blob/master/locales-is-IS.xm…

We could just swap the list in the spec for the rule that all prepositions should be lowercase.

Do we have any contact information for the developers at PubMed? It would be nice if they could put up a status page of their API.
-
Doesn't work for me either. The PubMed lookup service isn't the most reliable, though, so this probably will fix itself in a day or so.

There is Zotero Maps (it hasn't been updated in a while, but I think it still works): http://www.zotero.org/blog/zotero-maps-visualize-your-zotero-library-on-the-globe/ and https://github.com/zotero/zotero-maps/downloads

From the horse's mouth! (Frank, I'm not implying you're a horse; blame the English)
-
Multilingual Zotero is currently only available as an add-on for Firefox. The creator (Frank Bennett) would like to have a standalone version as well, but he already has a lot on his plate. Once MLZ becomes more popular it might attract some additio…

That's a bit more work to fix. You can try to change this yourself with http://editor.citationstyles.org/about/ .
-
Ah, right. Big + for me.
-
You mean a drop-down form like http://www.echoecho.com/tooldropdown.htm ? The difference is that these don't allow for free-form input, whereas the tag field in Zotero does. That said, I agree with you that it would be nice if tabbing would just se…

Google Search (at google.com) performs a search when you tab on an entry in the autocomplete dropdown. That's not really a selection, though. In Google Chrome, tabbing on an item in the address bar dropdown changes focus on the next item in the dro…

About the grouped references, why can't it be done? Is an issue of the CSL files? Yes, it's a limitation of CSL. Supporting them is non-trivial, and CSL development has been on the back burner for a while, so don't expect anything soon.
