The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology CSL style now follows AMA style. Thanks for reminding us.

There are many Americans of European heritage who consider the particle to be a fixed part of their family name. In such cases, a name like "Van Allen," for example, would be sorted on the "V." Yes, exactly. Relying on lowercasing to identify partic…
-
Name particles in Dutch are predominantly, if not exclusively, of the non-dropping variety. So "last name: Sas ; firstname: N.C.F. van" should really be "last name: van Sas; firstname: N.C.F." for a Dutch name, with lowercase "van" as part of the fa…

@fcheslack, I just received some spam from https://forums.zotero.org/profile/5638021/BARRISTERJAMESDUKE via my Zotero inbox (probably my first spam there ever).

Hmmm, I'm getting different results with Zotero 5.0.65 and the De Buck style, when I export a bibliography within Zotero: van Maris, Antonius J. A., e.a., ‘Development of Efficient Xylose Fermentation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae: Xylose Isomerase as…
-
Would "Last name: van Zanden; firstname: J. L." work? Store "van" in lowercase as part of the last name field.
-
"schema", since it will require a schema change.

@matthias.r.b, we've been personally requested by ACS last year to start providing a single citation style for all their journals. See also https://axial.acs.org/2018/02/01/review-ready-submission/: "You may provide references in any style, but the…

Can you send me an email via https://citationstyles.org/contact/#/contact-form? I'll give you my email address that way.

The Diabetologia is slightly adapted from the standard Springer style, so we would appreciate having a separate style. Okay, great, thanks. That's what I wanted to confirm. I just accepted @damnation's update, which will probably take a day to perco…

I work for Diabetologia journal and the style of our references has recently changed, in line with our publisher's (Springer's) requirements. Hi, going back to your original post, could you elaborate a little on this? If these changes are imposed by…

Is there a specific need for these files to be named "abbreviations.json" though? I think the only benefit is that it makes it easier for Zotero users to download the individual files and store them in their Zotero data directory without having to r…
-
@dstillman, as another update, @emilianoeheyns is working to put together an npm package at https://github.com/citation-style-language/abbreviations/pull/6. The current idea is to have different "abbreviations.json" files in subdirectories: "americ…

To add to @adamsmith's response, did you try clicking Zotero’s "Refresh" button in Word after you (re)checked the "Automatically update citations" checkbox?
-
@dstillman, there is now an abbreviations.json file at https://github.com/citation-style-language/abbreviations/blob/master/american-journal-of-archaeology/abbreviations.json. It's for american-school-of-classical-studies-at-athens.csl and its depen…

@adamsmith, ah, I forgot we even had that repo. Yes, let's use that for now, then. @dstillman, yes. It's my understanding from https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/275237/#Comment_275237 that users can currently put a modified abbreviations…

This continues the discussion that started at https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/pull/3890. Ultimately custom abbreviation lists should probably be distributed as part of the CSL infrastructure, but CSL styles currently can't define …

(I guess not: https://github.com/zotero/zotero/blob/1e3608e82ea88f14589b7c7920472c655c3c9ae2/components/zotero-protocol-handler.js#L871 )
-
@dstillman, do you know if the zotero://select/ handler supports the selection of more than one item? It would be easy for Reference Extractor to spit out an URL to select all the items cited in a document if there is a syntax for this.

More reports of this error here, mostly with Mendeley (which I have installed alongside their Word plugin): https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/error-pop-up-on-ms-word-citation-inserted/052d880e-34c8-4b52-825d-55d73439178a?page=1…

I've also started seeing this error recently with Word 2013 and pre-existing Word documents containing Zotero citations. Screenshot https://pasteboard.co/HZ15p0s.png

Since it used to be a bundled style for Zotero, I would make it a dependent of Chicago so that people who have the style already installed get correctly redirected to the Chicago format.
-
There was a plugin that did that — Zotero Item History — but it's a 404 now and I don't think it's available anymore. I can't find it on GitHub, but there is a Bitbucket repo: https://bitbucket.org/fbennett/zotero-item-history Not sure that's the l…

That link should be this

As a followup, what will this mean for students who have been using the old DCU style to date? Will this disappear from the Word plugin as an option for those who have already selected it? The lead developer of Zotero indicated that Zotero should op…

Since the "Referencing Management Tools" tab of that page says "When using referencing tools, particularly the likes of RefWorks / Mendeley / Zotero please use Harvard Cite Them Write output style if you are required to use Harvard style referencing…
-
@ronan.c.cox, yes, it's certainly possible to remove the style. Is there a webpage that mentions that Dublin City University now uses Cite Them Right 10th Edition? @adamsmith, a removal probably makes more sense here than a redirect, right?

"the xslt transformer in Zotero loses whitespace, so the resulting stylesheets would be awful to work with if that was ever needed later down the line" Well, there is always https://formatter.citationstyles.org/ to restore proper indenting. And the…

or if anyone else has access to put out releases. I should be able to, but I'm not sure how to create the xpi file.
