What operating system are you using? I had this problem when I didn't have UTF-8 encoding for file names - but was using a linux OS. I don't think Windows should have this problem.
-
Hi, well never used Mint before so I stuck it on a usb stick and ran it 'live'. Unfortunately, exactly the same problem occurs the moment I try to enter a second reference using bookmarks. Which as Mint comes with sun-java already set up, rules o…

Actually, I managed to hack together the ibib note citation section from the Chicago-short-note into the MLA style to create an MLA-note-with-bibliography style that seems to work ...

Just an FYI, It does appear to be a specifically Ubuntu 10.04 problem - I was trying a different linux (which is built from Ubuntu binaries, which makes things more odd) and after installing java and the openoffice plugin, I couldn't get Zotero to c…

OK, sent a pic of the error message to support.

Hi, yes I can confirm this: Ubuntu 10.04 Zotero 2.03 / 3.0a7 Tried to insert a second entry into a new doc with prefs set to bookmarks debug id D1767972. Dan, I can email a sceengrab of the error window if you want. Regards, Jon.

Have you emptied your trash?

Hopefully a helpful FYI. I was having trouble installing java on the NBR version of 10.04, due to sun-java not being in the repositories. Anyway, the key command is this: sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ lucid partner"…

It's often a java problem. When you go here: http://www.javatester.org/version.html do you see the pink rectangle? regards, Jon.
-
That's a really nice tool. Thanks for that. Jon.

Well I think I can be the bearer of good news: 1) You can add as many works to your bibliography as you want. You use the 'Edit bibliography' button on the Zotero toolbar. 2) Yes, from your description, Zotero can do what she wants. Multiple …

Yup, still sort of broken. This: http://0-www.springerlink.com.pugwash.lib.warwick.ac.uk/content/5wr8r69em4l2/?p=74b2f630eabb4d0b92789f43b1c99cef&pi=36 did not work, whilst this: http://www.springerlink.com/content/p074506808776x1…

Well, that's not right! I can confirm this with openoffice 3.2 Zotero 2.02 3.0a6r5850 I would have thought this would be a style issue rather than a plug-in issue - but it doesn't seem to have been altered for a year.
-
Hi Dan, well now of course everything is working just fine (including a file that was simply refusing to work yesterday) - clearly the way to clear up all problems is for you to ask for debug output! If it starts again, I'll try to get the debug ou…

It is a Firefox issue. Have a look at this http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/10720/getting-java-to-work-in-firefox-36-on-ubuntu-karmic-koala/#Item_4 and FBennet's solution. Any particular reason you're using Firefox 3.6? I'd have a go wi…

First thing I'd check as you're using Firefox 3.6 is that you're using the right Java. Do you see the pink rectangle when you go here: http://www.javatester.org/version.html

OK, just to answer my own question - looks like OOo 3.2RC5 I can lock the toolbar - so maybe this was / is more of an openoffice problem than a Zotero one?
-
Drat, misplaced overconfidence. I, personally, agree with Frank's last two points - I've never been bothered to move the toolbar before and there is definitely something a bit wrong with how the Zotero toolbar is operating as, in my case (Ubuntu,…
-
OK, try this (bit of a hack but should work) lock the 'standard' toolbar (the one immediately to the right of the Zotero toolbar). Go to View/Toolbar and uncheck the Zotero toolbar. Recheck the Zotero toolbar and it should appear to the right of…

If you're referring to the toolbar of buttons for the plugin then you should be simply able to click on the toolbar and drag it to wherever you want, same as you would do for any other toolbar. Regards, Jon.

Hi, no need to apologise, if you read my trials it's perfectly clear that I had my own 'doh' moment. So: You won't find java turning up in Synaptic if you install it this way - which at the moment you have to. Once it's there - and you've uninst…

When you say you tried to reinstall, do you mean you followed the steps that I did from here: http://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/java and have you symlinked the libnpjp2.so file to your plugins folder /home/~/.mozilla/plug…

What version of java are you using? have a look at this: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/10720/getting-java-to-work-in-firefox-36-on-ubuntu-karmic-koala/#Item_4 Regards, Jon

That's fixed it on the Ubuntu machine, will try it on the Puppy linux laptop later. Yup, happy two way syncing, great job. Thanks, Jon.

Well just got it on Ubuntu too. Report id 1443982710 The Debug ID is D1706070280. Firefox 3.6 2.0b7.r5622 Fixed all the 'file not found' stuff but still getting this error The Debug ID is D805383401.

Ah hah! http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/10439/firefox-36/#Item_16 So I was symlinking the wrong file! So I feel a bit stupid, but then again was just following orders / instructions. So thank you fbennett for solving this one, now…

Hi - yes I know it needs a different Java plugin - that's why I installed the jre1.6.0_18 The last thing I tried was to symlink ln -s /opt/java/32/jre1.6.0_18/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/ So if ~/.mozilla…

Actually Zotero doesn't change the default style itself. I just did a quick check of this and it is applying paragraph formatting to the lines in the bibliography rather than altering your default paragraph style. I'm guessing the problem here is …

Ah thanks, easy as that. Regards, Jon.

Just as a work around suggestion, I have a set of advanced search queries saved e.g. author search, title search, journal search etc. that it does only take seconds to alter. Rarely use quicksearch now. On the other hand, I'm cluttering up with sa…
