There are discrepancies / variations in accuracy in the references, some in the old and some in the new. Its a mess. A horror story too long to go into but it involves two old Endnote libraries and pdfs in need of ocr...ing.
-
Fair enough. In the meantime I have to merge ca 1000 refs due to a messy import and the inability to determine which pdfs needs ocr-ing. Not fun. Perhaps more energy can be put into duplicate detection instead.

I've never seen that behavior (which in itself would seem like an argument against doing it). Well that doesn't sound like a very innovative disposition. ;) Yes, in fact, Sente has an automatic pop-up window in their citation look-up feature that a…

perhaps, but it wouldn't have to appear immediately. i suppose cherry-picking would be to move the selection to a group , or? If it recognized that a drag was in progress it wouldn't appear. I have in mind cases of merging or deleting... of course i…

What do you mean by "hops"? Do you mean that a listing of items returns to the beginning of the list and you want it to return to the place in the list where you were before your action? Yes. One example is when an item is renamed (if sorted after …

That was quick! I'll have a peek...

Well, something got fixed. I got stuck on other tasks and didn't get the chance to try the above workaround. And then Quiqqa produced an update which seemed to solve the export issue. Perhaps they saw this thread. Anyway, Quiqqa => Zotero import …

I just did a test with find 'file' replace 'pdf' in the .bib file. Still no PDFs but at least Zotero didn't give me the '[Javascript Application] ' error . Progress?

should both file = and filename = be replaced with 'pdf'?

here's another one: @article{_4959-global_assemblages_technology_politics.pdf_???? , file = {\\psf\Home\Desktop\Quiqqa\docs\UNKNOWN2009 - --psf-Home-Desktop-My Library-files-2158-Untitled-2169.pdf.pdf} , filename = {\\psf\Home\Desktop\Quiqq…

i hope this is what you mean: @article{campbell2002ethnic , title = {Ethnic identities, social capital and health inequalities: factors shaping African-Caribbean participation in local community networks in the UK} , author = {Campbell, …

Okay, so do you mean: file = {Description of the file:/full/path/to/file.pdf:PDF} should be: pdf = {Description of the file:/full/path/to/file.pdf:PDF} or?

Here is the error report: Check with errors ! Keys which are not unique were found in this bibtex, see : Entry key: type: article Entry key: type: webpage Entry key: type: techreport Entry key: type: webpage Entry key: type: web…

I sent you a link just now.

Cool. I will have a look.

Other apps of interest are Sente, Bibdesk, Bookends, etc.

Joining late here. It seems like there is some headway but can someone explain in simple terms the process to make Scrivener and Zotero talk to produce a "Word plugin" effect? I'm also wondering why people don't just write in Scrivener and the…

I have a related question. I am using DevonThink Pro and wish to index my references without creating an entire new copy in DevonThink itself. Part of the problem is that the Zotero library is in the hidden Mac library. Is there a way to push/sync j…

I will enter a link to this discussion but assume they monitor this category too ...

Well, I'd be happy for any solution, or at least the attempt. As I mentioned, I am no programmer and don't have the time to learn (perhaps when I retire). I should also mention that Bibdesk, as far as I know, is for use with LaTeX so in that s…

As I mentioned, I still wish to use Zotero because it has superior metadata identification function and word plugins. It's also the program I know best. At the same time, I'm in the mood to experiment with my workflow and hoping to tweak it and…

Yes, Zotero does tag, but can it search the annotated notes of a pdf and are these annotations available for searching for outside Zotero, from for example Spotlight? Here is an example of Bibdesk and Skim (based on OpenMeta) working together: …

The first issue is the my more pressing problem: finding a way to annotate pdfs with searchable tags for use in other apps like DevonThink. Sente is set up to work this way for instance (with an external pdf database). Apparently the Zot2Bib…

Couldn't some kind of translating export/import algorithm/code/plugin be developed that uses text analyses - whether from the citation file itself (e.g. rdf, ris) or the attached ocr'd text and/or rtf docs? It could make "smart" guesses as to which …

Yes, I hit "continue" twice. It did create the lib but I have yet to be able to import with PDFs. It did seem to work when I selected "notes" only and not "files" during export. (I am posting a follow-up question under import-export.)

Hi again, I got an error message with the next set of ca 400 references with the message "An error occurred while trying to import the selected file. Please ensure that the file is valid and try again." Debug ID is D1595874620 N…

Thank you for replying Dan, The import did not finish. In the meantime I think I may have fixed the problem by simplifying the source path of the endnote pdf folder. I was able to import about 450 references in one go. However there is sti…

By postponing the export of my endnote refs w/ pdfs these past several months I was hoping that the r & d of import / export would be caught up. I'm not sure whether or not this is the case because I have yet to achieve a successful import of re…

Thanks, so can I assume that if I 'share' between the two this will not affect the stability of the original Firefox-Zotero database?

To follow up with all of this, I am wondering if someone might suggest a way to reduce the number of unknown tags generated during import? My guess this that this could help reduce the thousand plus lines of errors in the debug reports. Perhaps…
