Also, symbolic link does not mirror your files. It just gives the same directory two different addresses in the file system. It is like an alias or a shortcut, but on a lower level of the system. There is a small technical difference between the 1 …

Use the migration assistant to restore your settings. You will get a better answer if you explain what you mean by 'crashed' and what kind of backups you have (if any).

I implemented Dropbox support in ZotPad and write two installer scripts that create symbolic links to Zotero storage. Mac and Linux: https://raw.github.com/mronkko/ZotPad/master/ZotPad/link_zotero_mac_unix.sh Windows: https://github.com/mronkko/Zo…

The code that you see is HTML markup. I do not think that there is a practical way to render this as normal text on iPad. ZotPad will support notes starting at 1.2 version. (The 1.1 version is currently being finalized and 1.2 will follow after t…

rfinney: I will look at the Windows version at some time. Unfortunately I am currently busy with getting ZotPad 1.1 to a release state. I will set up a virtual computer to test the Windows version of Zotero QuickLook after that.

Actually, this could be automated by Zotero. I would guess that most users open a PDF by clicking on the Zotero item. There could be a flag indicating whether an item has been clicked or not, and display this in the user interface.

You can find the getting started instructions here: http://www.zotero.org/support/start Documents can be organized by tags and collections

You can use command line sqlite and dump the DB structure in a file. Then just run that file to initialize the other DB. This will give you a blank Zotero database. Also, you can check the Zotero source in the github to see how it constructs the d…

I think that there are a couple of threads about this already. You should search for 'voting' and 'vote' to see those. If I remember correctly, the developers have nothing against this if there is someone who volunteers to maintain the voting syst…

I would say that it is considered unimportant.

The thing that you asked for would be actually really complicated to implement because the sync architecture is currently "all or nothing". But having two libraries will probably solve your problem.

Check this page for how the translators work: http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/translators/coding

It is generally not good idea to say that something is easy to implement unless you know for sure that that is the case. If it is easy, you should provide some code or designs on how to implement it. You can set up a group library to achieve what y…

First, why do you want to do that? If we understand your problem better, we can suggest the best possible solution. You can have only one active synchronization target at a time. You can change the synchronization target in the preferences. Old fi…

ZotPad is a paid application for three reasons: 1) It keeps me motivated 2) It gives me an excuse to work on nights and weekends instead of spending time with my family. (Believe me, I do receive complaints about that from my wife regardless that …

Appreciate the great efforts, but for an unfinished app it is comparatively (to other apps) not cheap? What is the point of your post? You appreciate the efforts, but not sufficiently to donate a small sum of money for it? I am writing a bit longer…

If you do not have a gloobus or some other quick look viewer, you cannot use zoteroquicklook. If you have some other software like gloobus, you can define a custom view command as explained in the zoteroquicklook documentation: https://addons.moz…

This can be related to a bug that I filed a couple of days ago. https://github.com/zotero/zotero-word-for-mac-integration/issues/5

Frequently: Within a minute after adding new material in the library, and done after any library editing.

I would vote against this feature. If you have a lot of changes to be synced and are on slow internet connection, syncing can take minutes. Consider that you need to reboot your computer: In this case waiting minutes for firefox to quite would not…

No, not possible at the moment. You need to create a grou and drag and drop that collection there.

If the code is merged in the master, it is available in the next release of Zotero. If you want to get it earlier, and feel adventurous, you can run Zotero from git http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/source_code (I am running standalone from git a…

I doubt that there will be any, there are good technical reasons for that. Zotero offers already its own clod storage system, and you can use webdav if your cloud service provider supports that. Some kind of syncing with dropbox is possible by sync…

That is the insert citation dialog, so it is normal. Start typing the name of the article that you want to cite and you will see how it works.

You should check the ZotPad support site at http://www.zotpad.com

Most programs with big work load have descriptions because with plenty information on screen, mini icons doesn't do its job. Best example would be excel. Can you imagine working with it without descriptions next to icons? Yes I can. The toolbars for…

The problem with this is that if you add descriptions to the icons, they will no longer fit in the toolbar. Also, In my experience, not all software do not show descriptions for icons. Take for example the icons in Firefox toolbar.

1) The location of the storage directory can be found in the preferences window. 2) If you import articles to Zotero, they should in most cases include the PDFs. If not, then you can download these separately and drag and drop them on Zotero to…
