A couple of us are working on a fix for this in the Multilingual Zotero variant (MLZ). https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/29321/rtl-parentheses/ Once we've figured out a reliable means of controlling the behaviour, a patch can be proposed for…

This should be a priority for support in MLZ. I'll put it on the TODO list (but would be delighted to find it's been done by the time I get to it!).

As adamsmith says, multilingual import doesn't yet work with MARC records. It will be a big win when it's implemented, but the work will have to be done by someone who knows the MARC standard well. I think you may be seeing only one language becaus…

The English/Japanese interface switch with "/en/" and "/ja/" stubs on the item URL seems to be something new. I've fixed the translator to strip that out of the URL used to fetch the RDF. If you update translators, it should work again. Give it a tr…

What adamsmith says. In discussions that led to the current markup scheme, semantic markup was pushed as a design objective, but there was a scarcity of concrete use cases in which it would be relevant. If I remember correctly, the predominant view…

You're on your own for editing the style, but to invoke abbreviations, set form="short" where container-title is rendered. It will look something like this: Guidance on editing styles is here: https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style…

The reboot installer definitely installs the alternative citation processor, we used that method for a year or more with no failures. The problem is just that the hidden Unicode character combination I'm using isn't solving the problem. I'll try ano…

Can you point us at a journal style manual that requires species names to be underlined rather than italicized?
-
It's a production release, so no X or Y markers. There are several ways to control parens, this release incorporated one of them. They still don't come out correctly, I take it?

Sure thing. Set the tag on one item using the "Tags" tab atop the right pane in the Zotero UI. The tag will appear in the tags selector in the lower left: select all of the items in the collection, drag them to the tag, and drop. The tag will be set…

@ydenieul: The advice to move on from Word 2000 is good advice. But if you want to post a data sample and the style you're using, I'll be happy to check it against the processor. That way you would have some assurance that it will work after you upg…

@ydenieul: Can you export the item (with "Los angeles") as Bibliontology RDF, paste the exported data to http://gist.github.com, save as a "Public Gist", and post the URL back here? With that, plus a note of the style you're using, I can check to …

That's very useful to know. It sounds like we're on the right track: the revisions I've send out so far have been using hidden codes, so it's probably just a matter of a tweak here and there. In a related, somewhat embarrassing item, I discovered y…

The hang should be fixed now. You can check it with Zotero for Firefox by installing the processor patch plugin.
-
Try now. The patch plugin may work only with Zotero for Firefox (I'm not sure). The processor itself is working fine with the Romanian s + hanging comma character. (The problem was that the patch plugin was not loading correctly with a fancier loa…

Dan: Thanks for looking into this and opening the ticket!

Writing instructors working in committee can also get embroiled in fruitless internal turf battles over trivial aspects of style. (This is not a reference to personal experience, of course, and any resemblance to events real or imagined is purely c…

See page 33 of the MLZ book concerning in-field locator labels (the page explains how to download the PDF of the text). The in-field labels can be used in the middle of a field. I'm not sure how the "at" in your example will be handled, but the "par…

The place hint can be included. The division between "place", "subjurisdiction" and subunits of "court" is not perfectly strict, and styles can (or should) cope with whatever input is provided, within reasonable limits. The output will be incorrect…

There was an error in the installer. Sorry about that. It should work now, in both Firefox and Standalone. I've tested the fix. If the patch plugin installs the processor, it will definitely fix the spacing problem.

(I'll note here that we still need to do something for arbitration panels. I have a colleague here who specializes in arbitration. I will work with him directly over the next week or two, and get something in place there as well.)

That's a good point. One way to handle this would be to leave the change that I just pushed in place (i.e. to recognize and apply short-form journal title abbreviations), but to recommend that the Abbreviation Filter, rather than the Journal Abbrev…

BGHZ [volume number], [page] (eg. "BGHZ 98, 70). This does not seem to work yet in Zotero MLZ. I would get 70 BGHZ 80, which is rather the US way.Yes, the style doesn't yet recognize German items, so they fall back to the US form. Should have someth…

Is any of the MLZ styles following the International Citation Manual of Washington University? Thanks for this link. I didn't know about this, and it looks like a great resource. I see that (like the others) it provides country-specific guidance, and…

@adamsmith: Thanks for catching me on this. I should have checked the CMS directly. We do use abbrevs for law cases (following Bluebook), but I missed that journals are always to be spelled out in full. It's late here, I'll have to think through ho…

This can be done, and I agree that short title should work in the same way for cases and statutes. It will take me a few days to get to this. If you don't hear anything by the weekend, post a reminder here.

I've pushed a change to MLZ Chicago Full Note that will abbreviate journal titles in footnotes. I'm less sure about adding bracketed abbreviations to the bibliography. Wouldn't the conventional way to handle that (if anything) be to provide a separ…
-
@duncdrum: I'll try to run a test with this character in a small mainstream Zotero test instance soon. If we can reproduce the error with mainstream Zotero, Dan can take a look.

I would like footnotes to cite the abbreviation only and the biography to cite the full name (with the abbreviation in brackets behind if possible).Abbreviating only in footnotes is easy to set up. I'm not sure what you mean by "in brackets behind".…

I would like citations to be more uniform. So would I! If there is a published legal citation guide that specifies a uniform citation form across all jurisdictions, I can take a look; but uniformity is harder to accomplish than you might think. In ev…
