This is an interesting issue. The obvious solution will be to allow localisation of the ampersand. I've used up my programming time for the week, but I should be able to set it up in MLZ next weekend.

Re this form in the abbreviation lists: "District Court": "!here>>>" The "here" refers to the field containing the left-hand value, so it comes out to mean "suppress this entry completely". It's a hacked extension of the syntax described at…

I mentioned in mail that I was getting an error loading the American Law style under Firefox 24. It was showing as a recursion error, and turned out to be due to a poorly written processor build function. After a rewrite today it's now working fine …

I'll look at it tomorrow, but if I remember correctly the aim was to set the direction on the cite as a whole, where the surrounding context is LTR. There may be a use for it, but for the interim it can be made optional, off by default.

Properly speaking, the Language field should indicate the language of the original source. In this case, that does appear to be "Arabic", in arabic script, and that would seem to call for setting "ar" in the Language field. The problem is that in s…
-
Ah -- in that case there is a quick solution, and there may be no bug to fix. The "ar" language tag really does mean "Arabic in arabic script". For romanised Arabic, specify the script with something like "ar-Latn", or the transliteration method wi…

I'm sorry about the consternation everyone has suffered over this. If we were in the same timezone, I would have chimed in earlier. The failure is almost certainly caused by code intended for RTL support. I have a full schedule in my day job today,…

I've sent a private message with a bunch of questions. Once we have a clear picture of what's failing, we'll report back to this thread.
-
Yes, that's the way to go. It's a little awkward, but providing an override on the "id" form would make things even more confusing, since later in the editing process (or when text is reused) we might forget that it was set that way.
-
Yes, we're on the same page. Citation 2 needs to be entered as an (arbitrary) item, and then be fixed to look the way you want it. That way the citation process will be able to see that an intervening citation exists, and the backreference will work…
-
MLZ (or Zotero) needs to have access to the intervening hand-coded citation for backreferences to work correctly. You would need to enter the intervening citation in the usual way, from an MLZ item, and then edit it to show the correct form.
-
I think you're right: we shouldn't be touching ordinary titles with the Hints phrases. I have a tentative fix: if you send me your mail (via the Inbox link on the forums), I can send you a couple of XPI install files for testing.
-
As adamsmith says, some people don't want them showing in their library. It's a matter of personal preference.
-
All abbreviations used in a document or (or in the selected item, for the internal editor) should show up in the plugin lists -- under "Journal, Reporter" in this case. If you change the abbreviation "F." to "Forum" in that list, it should stick.
-
Ouch, that was careless. I've put up a corrected release.

Is the "CSL Editor" in MLZ what you see at chrome://zotero/content/tab.xul? I'm not particularly fond of that editor, for you really can get lost easily in a long code and the browser's "find" function doesn't work inside the codes pane. Me neither,…

I've fixed this, I think. If you update MLZ, the suffixes should be applied correctly. Thanks for calling attention to this issue.

Hints are not editable through the UI, so there is no list button for them. To make changes, you'll have to edit the JSON file directly, then re-import it (you can import a Hints file to any style). On import, the entire set of hints will be replace…

I can reproduce the fault here.

Thanks for this detailed report. I'll take a look, and should be able to respond soon.

@aneurysm1985, As adamsmith says, there are no plans to add an option to automatically insert the author name in-text in author-date styles. If all you need is a fixed "conversational" citation format, you could set that up in a custom style. But …

Yes, that one's out of my orbit.

The source for the abbreviation files (for general use, including projects outside CSL), is here. The data comes from multiple sources, including abbreviations listed in a paper copy of Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (recast in the structure…

The best reference is currently the MLZ book (Citations, Out of the Box), at pages 34-38 (a PDF download is linked in the announcement page).

With the Abbreviation Filter, new abbreviations are stored in the plugin's database. The JSON file itself is not used directly by the plugin, and is not affected by changes to the database: but if the abbreviations for a style are exported to a fres…
-
Yes. With the Abbreviation Filter, journal abbreviations, title and the other field categories are abbreviated on a complete match. The entries in a Hints file are applied to words and phrases within a field, to generate a suggested abbreviation. So…

You can add Attachment as a column in the centre panel, then click the heading to sort on it. The missing attachment items (with an "empty" dot) will end up at one end of the sort. You can then tag them as a batch it you want quick access to them la…

@Shara, @singley: Please (re)install the processor patch plugin. It should make this problem go away. The plugin only swaps the latest CSL processor version into your running (Firefox) Zotero. It can (and should) be disabled or removed when the nex…

Okay, more progress. There is no difference in the input form for references delivered from the document vs. those delivered from the database: so a humble mea culpa to the Zotero crew on that suspicion. The error does trigger reliably on three no-…
-
Okay, looks like I've been able to narrow it down a little further here. The error only seems to occur when one of the citations (one with no title or author, only, I think -- that still needs testing) no longer exists in the database. It's only a …
