(Sorry, v. late here, will write tomorrow, if others don't pick up the issue. It's to do with a sort function in JavaScript; it may be difficult to get Swedish sort conventions in the English locale.)
-
Try installing the processor patch plugin: http://gsl-nagoya-u.net/http/pub/zotero-processor.xpi It will swap in the latest processor version, which has more refined locale-based sorting smarts. If the style uses a Swedish locale, it should sort t…

Great, thanks again. Now that I have a handle on the parameters, I'll try to figure out how to make it happen. :-)
-
So would it be correct to assume that the policy behind these particular styles is to make the references more accessible to an English-speaking audience?
-
A question: what do these styles do with references to non-English, non-Chinese resources? That is, how would a reference to a Korean, Japanese or Arabic resource be presented?
-
We can either expand the list of affixes, or make the elements configurable. In the short term, expanding the list a bit is probably enough. We want to keep things as simple as possible for a user's first run with the software. Thanks for the detai…

Got it, thanks for the reference. The rule at 14.114 is discretionary ("may be italicized"), but that's the editor's choice, so the citing author may need to follow it as a rule. It's not my call, but the item type seems the better way to handle it.…
-
Can you provide a set of examples that illustrate the exact requirements? I'm not sure what you mean by using Style 1 or Style 2 for the English references.

Aha. It looks like the director variable will not be populated until it is no longer the primary creator field for the type: https://github.com/zotero/zotero/blob/4.0/chrome/content/zotero/xpcom/utilities.js#L1469 That leaves us with the option …

That's an interesting one. If this style of bibliography output is common, I think the way to handle it will be to provide a runtime option for "integrated bib entries" and "separate bib entries", with the latter rendering entries in two passes, fir…

I tried a Film item in Mendeley Desktop. It offers a UI field for Directors only (none for Authors). The BibTeX record exports like this: @misc{Smith2000, author = {Smith, John}, keywords = {Jake Makdoodle}, publisher = {Sandwich Films}, ti…

The functionality and the user interface on the website is very different from the client, so difference in appearance does not seem out of line (so it seems to me, anyway).
-
But we could test for the presence of a value in a volume-title variable. Are there examples where that would not resolve the ambiguity (that is, where the field would contain a value, but not refer to a named sub-volume in a multi-volume publicatio…

If I read @nickbart correctly, the suggestion is to map the Zotero Director box to CSL director, and offer no mapping for CSL author on this type. Adding a call on director to as in the code sample above would then render the director variable with…

In bibliographies and citations, the citation processor (citeproc-js) will now sort numeric field content numerically. That is, "Book 11" will sort after (not before) "Book 2". The change will arrive in Zotero when citeproc-js is next updated. Mean…

Inserting authors from the pulldown should work correctly again in the latest MLZ release. Insertion using the mouse were okay, but insertions using the keyboard were broken by a silly coding mistake on my part. Sorry about the inconvenience, and th…

(A tardy followup to note that the bug behind the problem reported by @lakelander above has been fixed in the latest update to the ODF/RTF Scan plugin.)
-
Ugh. That needs to be fixed, for sure. More news soon.

A scanner hooked up to the USB port is probably the most convenient solution for a PC. It's not a free option, obviously, but modern scanners output text direct to the keyboard and are programmable without need for installed software, and so work on…

@ssauerw: There is one more remaining question. What happens if you select an export format, rather than a bibliography style, in the Export tab of preferences?
-
I think you'll have to talk to the folks at Google about that.
-
I don't think it's style-specific, but the workaround here is that we assume year-as-volume where we have a year but no volume number. That should be okay. There are some other edge cases, but if the data for both approaches can be resolved to correc…

Those links all pertain to Mac OS X. Zotero has to work across three platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac). I could be wrong, but as far as I know, file aliases as you describe them are not available in Linux. Unsure about Windows.
-
That's covered in the project page.
-
The problem there would be with dangling softlinks left behind when their target file is renamed or deleted.
-
As far as I know, no one has tried that. It would not work only if the storage folder and the original file were on different disks or partitions. That would potentially leave you with a mixture of files, some that are hard linked, some that are not…

Rather than using cs:choose conditionals, set the editor as an alternative name variable using cs:substitute. There is an example in the CSL 1.0.1 Specification.

Seconding what Dan says: getting your database out of Dropbox should be your first priority.
-
ZotFile can rename attachments using a standard template. It won't apply item-specific citation rules, but you can configure it to approximate the Bluebook citation form for your most common category of references (law review articles, say), applyin…
