Additonal custom fields might not happen -- one of the aims of the project is to make it easy to exchange bibliographic information, and customization cuts against that. But we'll keep your use case in mind (in the collective consciousness of CSL d…

CSL (Zotero's citation formatting language) does not support this. What you say about being unable to test for content of the "short title" field is true, but using that field to supply data of a completely different category (an author name) would…

I have uploaded a patch to ticket #771 that addresses this issue. The style editor needs to do bidirectional conversion between RTF markup and HTML, and the sticking point for a fix was that in HTML, small caps is done with a tag set, the closing …

No one has argued against a port to Google Chrome as a matter of principle; it's just one of those problems that can be solved with a sufficient infusion of money or manpower, and can't be solved without.
-
@rdtaylorjr: I am very glad to hear that you are happy with your browser software, and I'm delighted to hear that a newer, better Google Chrome research tool is in the offing. Please keep us informed.

I've added a ticket for this to the CSL tracker, for consideration after the CSL 1.0 release. We'll see how things go, but I don't think we can guarantee that it will be covered in 1.0.

Proper legal citation is a work in progress. If you would like to participate, please feel free to join the zotero-legal list.

Not of immediate help, but I can confirm that extraneous punctuation is suppressed by the new CSL processor in this case. The processor will figure in Zotero 2.1 which is expected to begin emerging early next year.

... and with the comment "(ugh)" in the message line to the patch, no less! (Anyway, the original question was asked and answered by erazlogo, all finished here.)
-
@sonnet, @adamsmith: I'm a little late with a response, sorry. The mutlilingual support I've shoehorned into the new CSL processor is a simpler thing than the example above; it's just meant to provide a transliteration or translation for titles tha…

Many legal citation styles require that treaties and court judgements (and probably several other categories of material) be cited to the several services from which it is available. For example, the standard reference for the United Nations Charte…

A new CSL processor has been developed for Zotero, which supports a simple rich text markup scheme. Sample input and output can be viewed here: http://bitbucket.org/fbennett/citeproc-js/src/tip/tests/std/humans/flipflop_ItalicsSimple.txt Inclusio…

The Informaworld translator is fetching the Refworks citation data offered by the site. If you check the Refworks data from the link above, you'll see that it only provides the starting page number. It's included some of the other data formats for…

If this kind individual would be willing to pay the promised sum of 8.6 million dollars over to the CHNM, I don't think any of us would have any complaints. But as you say, that seems an unlikely outcome.

They are mainstream: alternatives must be encouraged but the main stream must be perfectly supported (IMHO).There's a difference between mainstream companies and mainstream standards. Google is a creative firm, they're good at cooking up new ideas;…

@adamsmith: Quirky, isn't it. That's almost certainly the issue, thanks. @cajunlibra: I've revised the file, let's see what it does for you for line spacing. Grab it from the same location and install as before: http://gist.github.com/253690 No …

@adamsmith: Hmm. Maybe I've missed something. Is it not possible to control spacing in a bibliography?
-
My first attempt to control line spacing, we may need a couple of tries at this to figure out exactly how the options behave. Here's a first attempt: http://gist.github.com/253690 You should be able to install the style by clicking on the "downlo…

This is a simple change, I can pass you a revised style if you're willing to test it. There are two spacing parameters, for spacing between entries, and for spacing within entries. Do you need single spacing only within the entries, or for both?

The common advice for word processor connection problems appears to be: (1) Double-check that the integration plugin installed is the one for the installed version of Zotero; (2) Disable other extensions to be see whether the failure is not caused…

Emacs is extensible too. 8-)

Snapshots seem to be populating through to clients just fine for us here. I'll second the thought that making snapshots available via the website along with files would be very elegant and nice, though. When a Zotero group is used to distribute cl…

Thanks. In the longer term, the simplest solution will be to build a wrapper for the new CSL processor that can operate as a drop-in replacement for BibTeX. Then you would be able to avoid the pain and uncertainty of running the item data across a…

Might let this thread sit for a day or two and see if anyone picks it up. There are regular bibtex users on the forums who know how the bibtex export translator works, and might be able to help with that end. For the translator and CSL style stuff…

The thing to do is set up the translator to store the eprint and primary class information in the Loc. in Archive field (which maps to archive_location in CSL-ese, and to archiveLocation in the Zotero database schema): hep-th/0703196 0906.1273 [hep…

However, the primaryClass is used for bibliography styles in latex that incorporate pre-print info (very common, at least in arxiv versions).Sounds like this is the root of the fields issue. Can you provide a sample citation that uses this info? I…

A URL for the target reference can be derived from that metadata: http://arxiv.org/abs/0911.0687 (The URL does not include the primaryClass, but the target page identifies it implicitly, judging from the breadcrumbs across the top of the page.) P…

Saving out arbitrary data for which Zotero has no corresponding field, which I think you are suggesting, sounds like a complicated proposition. Some items would have this hidden information and some would not, depending on whether they were saved f…

Highlights and sticky notes are saved as they are applied. If you navigate away and back, they will be waiting for you in the same location. What doesn't work as far as I know is saving this data to the sync server; sticky notes and highlights onl…
