Good citations!

The developers will need a little more detail in order to help. Which version of Zotero are you using, what is your platform (Mac/Windows/Linux), what is the export method, and what is the charset/content of a note that behaves in this way?
-
There has been discussion of how to handle identifiers in CSL. There is a need for extended support in this area, although a specific approach has not yet emerged. Hacking data into the Extra field is not the way to go, though, at least as a general…

I found RDF for another set of references on your site, and gave those a try. Under Zotero 2.1, backreferences work as you would expect (the first reference in the second note turns to "Ibid." as appropriate, and has the verse label if specified on…
-
I don't have an iPad, but the poster above appears to be suggesting that you sync the Zotero Storage Directory (a regular folder in your other PC) with the iPad, using whatever external tools you would normally use to do that. You can find the Zot…

The style looks sound. Can you post an Zotero RDF export of the references to your file-cabinet area? I'd like to give it a try with Zotero 2.1 beta and see what happens. As a side note, the style has text-case="capitalize-first" set on a number …

Which style and which version of Zotero do these results come from?
-
That is what it says, on my computer, at the link in adamsmith's Sep. 29 post. The source from which that page is generated was last updated on Mar. 23, 2010, so presumably you are looking at another page. If so, please provide its address.

@tucabib, et al. The xpi file was indeed bad; I inadvertently deleted a data file on which my local build script depended, and important things (like the Zotero core ...) were left out. I've just put up a working xpi at the same address that shoul…

The style is not valid CSL 0.8.1, so that needs to be fixed for a start (the cs:macro nodes need to be moved to a position above and outside the cs:citation node). On validation, see this link: http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/creating_citation…

Style discussions are easier with the full style on the table. Can you place it on github as a gist, and post the link here? http://gist.github.com/

A prototype client with multilingual support that I've been working on has implemented a second "shadow" field column, used exclusively for sorting. This column can be used to address the lastName + firstName issue (as well as handling sorting by al…

I can confirm the second bug. It was reported earlier, and traces back to citeproc-js. The bug is fixed in the citeproc-js version 1.0.65 CSL processor release, which is in line for merger to the Zotero trunk.

< -- TODO: Change to page-first when Zotero supports it --> If the page-first text node is the only item inside the group, it would make sense to remove the group wrapper to keep things simple. [Edit: I can confirm that the group wrapper i…

When the Add/Edit Citation window will not disappear when clicking the OK button (or when two clicks are required instead of one), that means a processor crash behind the scenes. That should never happen, so if you find a way of reproducing it (it …
-
For the starting page, try the (virtual) variable "page-first". It will render the first page of the range (or it should, and if it doesn't we'll bring it into line).
-
I can confirm this. It's a bug in the citeproc-js CSL processor that Zotero uses to format citations. I've identified the source of the problem, and a fix is in the works. Thanks for reporting this error.
-
Matthias, So the idea would be to have a single item in Zotero for a book-length work, and then to have a series of attached links which address particular page spans within the work, and (a) only those spans get indexed, and (b) clicking on the li…

The "Edit Bibliography" button in the word processor will open a popup that lets you access your Zotero collections and add uncited stuff to the bibliography.
-
Unfortunately, these nested cites are a tricky problem that remains to be solved. For legal citations, the citeproc-js processor is able to collapse a series of cites referring to the same case (published in different reporters) into a single "spar…

@Jon: It works under Linux also. In fact, that's where I first stumbled across it.
-
That would certainly be more convenient. In fact, the area does activate (turns green) when an attachment is dragged from the center panel; it just doesn't seem to upload when dropped.
-
If a Zotero install does not seem to be a cause of the fault on the offending computer (I take it that you haven't installed the program), there's little chance of getting targeted advice in this forum. Try contacting EndNote support. It looks like …
-
This may have been caused by a bad return value from the relevant formatting method of the citeproc-js processor -- from the code, it looks like Simon had rtfScan set up and working originally, and I think a processor upgrade back in August may have…

If the UI shows a universal or localized form of the date on the surface (such as "2002-03-22"), you could provide a clickable rollover or left-click popup that provides a hint against the original content, such as "Edit: 23 Mar 2002". Clicking on …

Click on "Compose" in GMail to begin drafting your message. In Zotero, open the item and click on the attachment. In the right pane, click on "Show File". This will call up a view of the directory in which the item is located. Drag the file into…

mark, I think everyone understands and has taken on board your complaints about the current UI, there's no need to repeat them. But there will be a lot of work and some risk involved in moving to a fresh set of compromises, and people are wanting …

This was fixed in the 2.0 dev version a few days ago. (What adamsmith says about breaking word-processor citations, though.)
-
I've filed a patch for csledit.xul support in Zotero 2.1, which seems to work. If it passes review, it will find its way into a release in due course.
-
It looks like csledit.xul hasn't yet been updated in the trunk to work with the new processor.
