That name would probably break badly, but there is at least a name with a particle embedded in the given name portion in the CSL test fixtures:John Bertrand de Cusance Morant(Former President of the US San Francisco Medical School, I believe; Profes…

I think we're about right with this name. The dropping-particle treatment of the "abbé d" element is about right; the logic seems quite similiar to the "de" in "Gérard de la Martinière III" -- it expresses affiliation or membership. The fact that t…

Validation could be run when a style is selected (i.e. just before it is instantiated to run by Zotero), which would catch all cases. I like the idea of a warning + user override; blocking the install completely would be troublesome in some situatio…

One possibility for the future might be to do a checksum of the CSL, and issue a popup with details about validation if it is identified as code not drawn directly from the CSL repository.
-
Point taken. The processor itself assumes valid CSL, and unexpected things may happen (including bad formatting without issuing an error) when the style code is invalid. We try to encourage the validation of custom styles, but it depends on people c…

Yay, that's great news.

I've written a new translator for WestLaw Japan. It works only with the multilingual branch of Zotero, because it relies on an extension (to save chunks of a single HTML page as separate attachments) that is only available there. I don't have any im…

@l2lafitte: You are right that a short document explaining the way to input names is needed. It may take some time, but we'll get one together on zotero.org. The treatment of "abbé d" is special, crafted in response to your own feedback. The way it…

At least with a valid copy of the style (one from which the empty group has been removed), the sample reference seems to work fine here under OpenOffice. Try removing the empty group from your copy of the style locally, reinstalling the style, resta…

There is an empty group in the style at line 246, which fails validation. I'm not sure if it was the cause of the error, but it should be eliminated just to be safe.
-
It should not be possible for that to happen.
-
This seems likely to be due to a flaw in the processor, and is likely (but not certainly) triggered by a names formatting operation. If that is correct, I'll need to be able to reproduce the error to track down the source of the problem. Working wi…

This looks fine to me. I can lock it in with the test suite if everyone else is happy. l2lafitte? Gracile?

Not forgotten!

Thanks to some patient feedback from Bruce D'Arcus, the processor in the 2.1.7 release is a good deal smarter about the sorting of citations in author-date styles. Some author-date styles that previously avoided sorting in cs:citation may be able to…

Many people use two languages. This functionality is coming, although it will take some time for it to make it into the official mainstream version. Feel free to test it!

So long as we rely on a master list of terms for locator labels, it would need to include both "section" and "article", as well as "title" (for the US Code), and probably a bunch of other things. That's going to get annoying in the UI, with every us…

Does name-as-sort-order have any influence on sorting or is it only for rendering? As Rintze and adamsmith say, this option is turned on automatically inside a sort key. The idea behind the design (stated clearly in the CSL specification -- I just me…

omian, Thank for your care in preparing the test data and style. Having complete samples greatly simplifies things at this end. Sorting by initialized and short-form names has now been fixed in a fresh citeproc-js release (1.0.179). You can watch …

Sorting by anything less that the full name was indeed broken. A processor version containing the fix will be released soon (probably tomorrow morning), after which the update will make its way into Zotero.
-
Thanks, test data is what I needed. I'll take a look soon and get back.

Which version of Zotero are you testing with? If you haven't already, please try with Zotero 2.1.7 (just out a couple of days ago), and let us know how you fare with that version. If you still have problems, please paste the style and a Zotero RDF …

I can see the case for an empty label. I'm not so sure about multiple localized labels, though. Would it save labor in the long run?
-
Absolutely; and your feedback is very welcome! It's just that I didnt want to leave potential contributors listening in with the impression that I'm itching to take on support for other platforms myself.
-
(Just to be clear in case of possible misunderstanding, the fate of this plugin in environments other than my own will depend on the debugging efforts of other contributors.)
-
I was recently surprised to discover that we don't have an "article" label, which makes it rather awkward to cite constitutions, wherever you fall in the "article" versus "section" statutory turf wars.
-
This glitch with sub verbo is from my desk, unfortunately. I recognized the cause immediately on seeing your note, and just issued a fix. You should see this odd behavior go away with the next release.

Spent a little time with Firefox 3.6.17 on a Windows 7 machine, but no joy. It's an unfamiliar platform and I'll have to leave the debugging to others, unfortunately. The source code is available online, and I'll be happy to answer questions, and to…

@l2lafitte, Your code is fine, and quoted escaping should work here; it was failing because of a bug in the detection of the quote marks. I've applied a fix, but unfortunately didn't make it in time for the Zotero 2.1.7 release. If you need this i…

What exactly is the formatting problem you are faced with?
