Assuming that it is a problem specific to a particular document, the first thing would be to work through the steps outlined here: http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#debugging_broken_documents
-
Does this happen only in a specific document?
-
Right-click on the item in the centre panel, and select "Create Parent Item from Selected Item". The PDF will become an attachment, and you can edit the metadata on the parent.
-
@duncdrum: This was a bug in the citation processor version in the MLZ client, exposed to the Web only for a short time. Updating MLZ should make the error go away.
-
I'm sorry for the surprise. This should either be documented or avoided for consistency. What would be the best behaviour?
-
Thank you for calling attention to this. I will add numbers to the character set.
-
I'll need some test data (input plus style code) to reproduce this. If you can export the references as Zotero RDF, paste the code into gist.github.com, save as a public gist and post the URL back here, and also paste your style code in the same way…

(1) What is the intended treatment of Journal Abbrevs in the main Zotero Database? Right now it seems to be using them as a default when no abbrev is specified in the JSON but overriding them both by hand and if JSN has abbrev. Yes, that's how it's …
-
Isis, Try reinstalling the Abbreviations plugin (it should turn up as version 1.0.127 after the restart). I've fixed some things around import that should eliminate the weirdness you were seeing. Specifically, import with the "replace ..." option w…
-
There is an empty list object here. I you import this with the third option selected ("replace ..."), it should wipe out your existing entries.
-
I think I have narrowed down the odd hereinafter behavior when a new JSON is applied to an old document. For some reason, there must be two full cites before the short cite is used. Thanks, this is exactly the kind of detail that I need for debugging.
-
That wouldn't be the way to do it, but you're right that it can be done (and better) if the labels are suppressed. (The right way would be to set only the editor on a second sort key, and sort descending on that key.) I have tested code in place tha…
-
Yes, it should be -- I think. I can't remember whether there have been demands to sort editors and authors separately.
-
If you take an Abbrev JSON file and delete the entries in each segment (preserving the segments and squiggly braces), then load that with the third option (the most aggressive one), that should give you an empty database for that style. I'll add em…

You shouldn't use Word to edit json files. A text editor like Notepad++ or JEdit is what you need. To check files for correct syntax, you can use this: http://jsonlint.com/

We should look into these errors. First thing will be to explicitly report success or failure of the import. I have some travel coming up next week, so it might take a few days for me to get to it, but I'll put it on the list. I'll also look at Phr…

The Hints link is fixed now. This list will replace individual words or phrases in titles. The Abbreviation Filter version should be 1.0.121. If you have a lower version, it would be worth updating or reinstalling to get the latest. One of the recen…

Just checked the 18th edition (my copy of 19th edition is apparently at the office), at it does indeed require "at". I've fixed the affected styles (mlz-amlaw and mlz-cms-full), and reinstalling the style should pick up the update. I haven't run the…
-
Sorry, I've been meaning to check the manual for this. Is it a Bluebook requirement that subsequent cites with a shortened case name should join a page pinpoint with "at"?
-
The only way to find out if it works in your environment would be to install it and do some testing.
-
Merging adjacent citations will be simple to handle in a conversion script. If you watch this space, something should be available in the next week or two.
-
I don't see a clear requirement in MHRA that a sole author should use the full name, but multiple authors initials. There is an example at page 55 that shows two authors with full names. There is an example at page 64 with initials, but it appears …
-
Yes, this doesn't try to address that, at least in this iteration. The pairings would need to be stored in the document itself. That could be done, but it would be awkward to implement, and I seem to remember there are storage limitations for docume…

This is all nitpicking. Thanks! It's very rewarding to see people taking an interest in the tool.
-
The newly edited item now shows up in hereinafter and other abbrevs, but so does the old item, which no longer exists and which I would like to get rid of, since it is confusing. Also, the edited item does not inherit the old hereinafter, it must be…
-
A lightweight solution to this (which does require some changes in Zotero) may lie in enchanced "Scan" capability. The idea would be to drag and drop a plain text "citation" that contains a Zotero database link into and external document. Just about…
-
I've updated the style, you can reinstall it to see if the Flowers v. Schwarz cite comes out better.
-
No, only that that the style never even looks at the variable for that item. Only variables that might be used in the style are listed in the abbreviation lists. It's probably just an oversight in the drafting of the style. A few posts up there is …
-
Got it. There is a way to control for that. I'll take a look at the style later today, you can keep the note in the Court field.
-
Either that, or drag them into a plain text editor. The formatting corruption with LO/OO is a bit of a nuisance, unfortunately.
