@hamsternik Maybe you'd like try this plugin, Zotero Tag https://github.com/windingwind/zotero-tag . It can automatically add '/unread' for new items, and remove it after you opened it.

@malev I guess colored tags and emoji tags are the different things: items with colored tag will have a coloured square mark. However, items with emoji tags won't. Also, emojis makes searching the tag difficult.
