Also, I'd appreciate it if others could test this translator as well-- JSTOR is high-impact, and we need to make sure that any changes to it do not break existing functionality.
-
I'm still trying to pin down whether there are in fact sites that save in Firefox but not in standalone-- example URLs would be very useful for that.
-
See my response at http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/16207/ -- this is due to incomplete data in the CrossRef database. Happens pretty often.

NASA ADS is an older translator, and it appears to be broken. I may be able to take a look at it and fix it in the near future. The Springer article is using the DOI fallback -- but the data for the DOI is incomplete, and the translator refuses to …

This is one of those translators that hasn't been touched in ages. Did this previously work for you?

This is one of the issues to arise from JSTOR slowly moving to DOIs in more places. Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/JSTOR.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zoter…

I've noticed odd behavior with VPN and no-VPN and full text as well. My guess is session IDs-- your session is marked as being a subscriber or something. It looks like this isn't really translator-specific-- there are just issues with proxies and t…

See http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/creating_translators_for_sites and explore the code of existing translators for similar sites. If you have questions, please direct them to the developers' list. We'll explain anything unclear about how transla…

To make things a little easier, can you try to produce a smaller RDF file that causes this? That large file will simply overwhelm my puny netbook, so I'm not eager to try importing it. Also, we'll need to know in what way this does not report-- doe…

That's not surprising behavior then -- Zotero compares the new input of "004" to the old content of "4" and sees them as equal, so it just sticks with the old. You could probably enter something with a letter, leave the field, and go back to it and …

Try https://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/MARC.js -- it concatenates repeated subfields. I think it shouldn't cause issues, but perhaps it might. Please test.

If you have a lot of Zotero users, you may want to speak with your tech team about helping out on the translators or embedding Zotero-readable metadata in your pages (like COinS), so that we can make some progress. These translators are not that har…

This is one of the library catalogs that I need to sit down and work on, but I've been putting it off for some time. I'll try to set aside a day for long-delayed translator fixes at some point in the coming weeks, since a few have caught up with me…

This is one of the library catalogs that I need to sit down and work on, but I've been putting it off for some time. I would be very happy to see someone else (like our friends at Indiana?) explore this and fix up the translator. Otherwise, I'll tr…

Post it to gist.github.com, post the link here, and we'll get it into the repository. Thanks!

I'm sorry that you're frustrated, but we need more concrete descriptions of what you've tried and what isn't working as expected if we're to help you out. Can you start a new thread with a description of what you're trying to do, what is happening,…

We'll need an example URL.

This sounds like an issue with Personas-- try disabling them from the Firefox Add-Ins menu. If that doesn't do it, try disabling other Firefox extensions.
-
Book section is definitely the right type here.
-
Can you try disabling your other Firefox extensions and syncing again? It looks like you have a number installed, and there's a chance that this is an extension interaction.
-
You may also be able to get the desired behavior by modifying the CSL for the styles in question.
-
You can just copy and paste citations from your library in Zotero to any program. Set the Quick Copy preferences to specify which style to use for such citations. But the source is at https://www.zotero.org/trac/browser/integration/xpcom, if you st…

I believe they are auto-updated upon install.

Just to confirm -- this is the PLoS style from here: http://www.zotero.org/styles/ ? PLoS ONE uses the same style as other PLoS journals. If you are using the Endnote style from the PLoS website, it might have issues; support for Endnote styles is …

In particular, the handling of HTML in note fields that you describe is not good. If you can propose a nice way of doing it in a LateX-y manner, please submit a patch to zotero-dev and we'll see about getting it into the main release.
-
This discussion should probably have moved to zotero-dev some time ago, but in short: the the types are a bitfield; 1 is import, 2 is export, 4 is web, 8 is search. The UUID is, well, a UUID. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UUID -- you can get one …
-
Can't you install Firefox 3.6 itself?
-
Can't you just replace the existing BibTeX.js and restart Firefox? Otherwise, save the new file to the translators directory and change the translatorID to a new UUID, then restart. It should show up automatically.
-
If it happens even with automatic syncing off, then this is very odd behavior. Also make sure that you are not working within search results from a saved search -- I've seen behavior like this when editing an item from a list of search results.

It's just plain JavaScript, plus you have some extra Zotero utility functions at your disposal. You should be able to use Zotero.Utilities.cleanTags(..), which will just remove all HTML tags. Or you could write a series of regular expressions to rep…
