For reference, the translator currently tries to split names on a comma-- this obviously won't work with Chinese names. Similarly, Zotero's internal splitting of names will assume a space between them. How should we do auto-splitting of names? I tr…

IEEE is throwing Zotero a series of redirects as it produces the stamped PDF, and we're failing to follow them. Not sure if we can do any better. If Zotero learns to follow the redirects, the PDFs will save. In the meantime, you'll have to add the …

That sounds remarkably easy. And this works? Sync? Scraping webpages? I'm frankly quite surprised, but I guess I haven't followed Firefox Mobile with any great care. Please post screenshots, video-- this is news!

It should be saving whatever is in the citation_pdf_url field; for the Signal Processing paper linked to above, that is: If this URL gives Zotero a real PDF (and not a login/purchase page), it should be saving them. This may depend somewhat on how…

This is a very interesting situation. It shouldn't happen often, and it will usually require other changes anyway (locator changes for different pagination)-- but I suppose I can see where this would come up. The easiest is (3), but you correctly n…

Not a standard feature, no. If this is happening, it's a bug.
-
No, that's not right. Looks like someone got the version numbers mixed up. It's harmless-- you are in fact running Zotero 2.1.3, and not an unstable alpha release. The current trunk builds (not even alpha) are indeed being called 3.0a1.rxxxx, proba…

There was talk once (Dan, I think) of invisible threads (relationships) tying together group and personal items -- that Zotero knows internally which ones are copies of which personal library items. This knowledge isn't used at present?
-
The fix here was to manually set the itemType on attachments from the itemDone handler of the RIS translator. I also really didn't think this was necessary in 2.1.2-- but here it fixed the problem.
-
This is an unrelated issue, but I have a proposed fix. Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/JSTOR.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data). …

I think the plugin has been updated, but I'm not if the new version has been released. Try checking it out of SVN and running from the checkout. See http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/svn_and_trac_access#running_an_svn_build_of_zotero -- the same thi…

I've made some changes to the ISI translator to try and fix the all-caps journal titles. Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/ISI Web of Knowledge.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directo…

As more and more PDFs start to include the DOI, this might improve, since Zotero tries to find a DOI first. The CrossRef database, which is used for DOI lookups, generally has full names.
-
Example URL? There's a risk that we broke some DOI imports, but JSTOR shouldn't normally be using the DOI translator at all.
-
Yes-- you're seeing the DOI translator. There is no dedicated translator for Cambridge books, so Zotero falls back on the DOI, for which it looks up data in the CrossRef database. And that doesn't provide abstracts or full text.
-
I'll work on this. Note that you don't actually have to give the final URLs to Zotero.selectItems(), meaning you can present the user with the titles, then add the necessary ones to the basket at the end. And it is possible (even acceptable) to hav…

This works for all the installations I've tested. Good work! Would you like to work on fixing multiple-item saves, or should I take a look at that? (I can do it quickly, if you're interested.)
-
There isn't a foolproof way of doing this, but see http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/importing_formatted_bibliographies Specifically, #1 and #2 in that list might be good choices for you.

Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/CrossRef.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data). It should start working again. If this works for you,…

Simon, Dan-- Can we get the bug for itemType on attachments fixed for 2.1.3? Or the patch landed on the 2.1 branch-- maybe it's just on the trunk.
-
I thought we had fixed this issue in Zotero 2.1.2... Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/BIBSYS.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data). I…

See http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/submitting_citation_styles for information on style submission, specifically the bit about gist.github.com.

And do any style guides even specify the correct behavior here?

The multilingual version that fbennett refers to is at http://gsl-nagoya-u.net/http/pub/zotero-multilingual-overview.html What site are you capturing from?
-
They should link to that, and they will. The docs are being worked on right now-- you're welcome to chip in by appending ?do=login to any page and registering to edit the wiki.

Yes-- the file count and overall size aren't that surprising. If you don't already, see about installing Adblock Plus-- it will (among other things) reduce the number of files that Zotero saves and avoid many (but not all) of the ad files on new sna…

I'm going to let fbennett handle this, since he knows this stuff better than anyone else here. No question that this needs some attention-- we'll get it sorted out soon enough.

Using the preview pane (chrome://zotero/content/tools/cslpreview.xul), I get: Darnton, Robert. 2010. Can We Create a National Digital Library? by Robert Darnton | The New York Review of Books. The New York Review of Books, октябрь 28. http://www.nyb…

Changes applied to Github and trunk. Also made a change to improve abstract formatting. I actually just removed the code that was overriding the type set by the BibTeX translator-- don't know why it was there, but couldn't find discussions in the f…
