Yes, it would be very helpful to have a date when the item was first downloaded by Zotero. That would give me a sense of how many items were recently added when I review the feed.
-
Yes - I understand there is no publication date in the feed. In general would it not be helpful to include "Date Added" in RSS feeds to reflect the date/time when an item is imported into Zotero?
-
Hi For feeds from PubMed, no Date of any type is created. https://www.dropbox.com/s/y9v2xh2nelh2qe9/Zotero RSS Pic.png?dl=0 I see your point that the columns are not sortable so the newest one is always most recent - but there appears to be no wa…

Thanks

OK fair enough- all good ideas - your help is appreciated whatever you choose

Fair enough as far as weak import ability of CSV I think the biggest argument for CSV export with Zapier is the ability to utilize external report generators and for web publishing. That is a pretty strong, universal use case. Customizable report…

Emiliano added CSV import too recently - it works well All you need is one column with the word Title in it. The translator presents that title to Microsoft academic and then imports it from there. Works very nicely: https://github.com/retorquer…

I suggest that the use case for CSV export is very strong. It is the most universal means of export of all. Having a CSV option allows for export of data to software not specialized for bibliographic use but still very useful for Zotero data - Tr…

Sounds good Emiliano - will follow up in email - thanks
-
OK - I can work around that if needed. I can understand why especially for use by others it would be better to work from the server. I think Zapier for Zotero would be of interest to many many people. Interestingly as well - though I get errors …

(1) The entire note does not sync (2) The translator you wrote for me does a great job exporting the images to the CSV file. Try it.
-
Is it possible through the Desktop client? In my particular use case, I may occasionally use images in the Notes field. Those do not sync to the server. - Richard

Zapier for Zotero would be cool indeed. Emiliano - interested? How hard do you think that would be to set up? If we extended it to other things like adding citations or alerting of new citations aside from saving to CSV, there are so many ways i…

Interesting ideas Emiliano. Seektable has an API for analyzing data but not for uploading files. However, Vitaliy (their founder and lead developer) just let me know that they now have a beta version of Zapier integration which includes among othe…

Emiliano and Adam - Thanks for your thoughts Here are some specific examples to show what I am trying to work out - this is just test data as I work out the formats I will be posting my reports in Discourse as a basis for discussion topics. Exa…

Thank you Emiliano. Maybe "report" is not a good word for what I am trying to do. I think "web publishing of a Zotero Collection" is more clear. If I use the Zotero report feature, then I need to manually do that process every time I make a cha…

Adam and Emiliano... As for my typical use case or number of items, the situation I am most interested would be the ability to curate a list of "best" or "classic" articles on a given topic. Typically such a group might contain 50 to 250 citations…
-
Thanks Groups have their place but I do not think they work well for viewing a larger number of citations. Plus if someone wants to download and "own" the list and then edit it to a personal version, it is not easy with Groups. Zotero RDF is pro…

Zotero reports are nice but not very customizable. More importantly though I am thinking through options for sharing a set of citations in a format that others can both view and edit. Of course any of the Zotero export/import formats will work. …

I see the warning alert that Notes with embedded images cannot be synced. Am I correct that syncing still works but just not for those items?
-
Images in Notes work really nicely and are stored in standtard HTML img format that can be used in other software applications. I have been working for some time on a project to export Zotero data to a CSV file that can be used to generate reports …
-
That works - thanks!

Is it possible to use a serif font such as Georgia as the default font for Notes?
-
Could you clarify a bit more the details of your use case? Could you accomplish your goal by exporting your Zotero data in a CSV file and then importing that into your research center(s) computer(s)? Why or why not?
-
Yes, it works really well for that purpose. A hidden software gem.
-
Emiliano just wrote an import translator at my suggestion using Microsoft Academic Search that would work to add abstracts. Export your Collection to a CSV file. Then import that CSV to a new Collection using the Bulk-Mas-Import translator. ht…
-
Update.. Final version works very well - thanks Emiliano - with a new translator, Microsoft Academic can be very useful for adding abstracts to virtually any CSV source, including but not limited to Publish/Perish.
-
Why would you need or want such a folder hierarchy? You can more easily search and retrieve the PDFs through the Zotero user interface.
-
Well... after no lack of trying on Emiliano's part, it is apparent that there are immense problems with the Microsoft Academic API. The human browser interface works wonderfully; its "semantic search" design is quite useful and quite arguably a pow…
