Also doing a symbolic link in reverse could work: Just move the storage folder from Zotero data directory to Dropbox and then replace it with a symbolic link that points to the new location. The downside of moving Zotero storage dir to Dropbox is t…

I do not know much how well symbolic links work on Windows, but on Mac it works well. I would say that if you do not need to carry your library on the Android table at all times, using ZotFile and the "send to tablet" feature might be the best sol…

Yes. You need a plugin for each browser that you want to use Zotero with.
-
It probably does work, but just does not do what you expect it to do. Note that type and item type are different fields. For example, if you create an item with item type "thesis" the type field could contain "Doctoral" or "Master's".

6. I have no way of easily adding this document to Zotero (to make it searchable/keep all my research in one place)." You could add the note as a normal attachment. If it is in PDF format, then Zotero will also index it and allow you to search based…

glenda: You should use a group library and then just drag and drop the collection there.
-
You should be more specific on how such integration might work. (e.g. describe a use case.) You can already add links to Zotero items from other software. See e.g. this thread http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/18064/2/please-add-better-integrat…

Add a link to an existing file should give you an option to only add a local file. Adding a stored copy of a link should only give you option to add a link. You should check that you are using the correct feature.

On my Mac, which is a fresh Mountain Lion install from about a week ago, curl version 7.28.1 gives 405 from google.com. So there is possibly something wrong with your configuration.
-
On my Mountain Lion, curl works just fine, but this is the MacPorts version (/opt/local/bin/curl) $ curl -X OPTIONS google.com Returns a 405 error page You might want to try the MacPorts version of curl.

If you have two people working on the same document, you should use a group library. Is there a particular reason why that is not an option?

You should post to the ZotFile support thread to ensure that the developer sees this http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/5301/11/zotfile-zotero-plugin-to-rename-move-and-attach-pdfs-send-them-to-ipad-extract-pdf-annotations/

The PDF metadata retrieval is not bullet proof. You need provide a link to the page that you are talking about to get a better response.
-
If you want this feature, you should clearly explain the use case and why 1) Using different Windows accounts is not an option 2) You need to have two accounts for the same person (I know that developers can use many accounts, but for that the diff…

I agree that the site would be better if it acted like Facebook. However, given the limited resources I would argue that improving the Zotero application/extension itself should have a higher priority than doing a facelift for the website.

Chrome does not provide programming interfaces that are needed for Zotero, so implementing Zotero purely based on Chrome would mean a very limited Zotero that would need to be implemented from scratch. (Same goes for iPad and Android and hence the…

1) The zotero stance on annotations is that it is better to let the user choose which tool to use instead of forcing a built-in tool, but there is also a practical issue that a good free cross-platform annotation library does not exits 2) Zotero s…

I received the ticket and responded. Just in case someone finds this using google, I will document the response here as well. This is most likely caused by not synchronizing your Zotero client with the Zotero server. With Dropbox, you still need t…

If something like this is implemented, it would also make sense to implement saving to a group library too.
-
You should post to the Zotfile support thread so that the developer sees it.

Subscribing to storage should not change how the files are opened locally. You should explain how you had the Dropbox sync set up and how you "disabled" that. Maybe the attachment files are not currently in the right place on your computer?
-
Yes, you should let Zotero manage the PDFs. If you do this, there is really no reason to use Dropbox at all. Using a WebDAV provider (e.g cloudme.com) is easier to set up and stays in sync better than Dropbox. You can also get more support for that …

This is unlikely to happen. Windows RT does not support the programming interfaces that Zotero uses. Options for javascript apps are limited on RT, so Zotero would probably need to be ported to a different programming language (C# )as well. A more …

I have been using cloudme with files up to 100MB, so 7.4 MB should not be a problem. That being said, the service is sometimes unreliable.
-
Zotero does not index the content of djvu files. Filenames can be matched, but that's it. Edit: Seems that I misunderstood the question.
-
You can install Zotero standalone and the Chrome connector.

This is unrelated to the number of items. As far as I know, if you are dragging an item that already exist in the destination, the dragging will be canceled.

I just tested and renaming to move works just fine on my computer. Set the "Custom location" on the first preferences tab of ZotFile and then renaming will move the files to that location. This is with the latest versions on Mac. If it does not wo…
