In my original post I wrote: "Maybe it is related to accepting tracked changes adjacent to the field but I could not reproduce it reliably." So, it might well be that track changes were involved. My point in my first reply was only that it seems …

By the way, I also have problems with automatic proxying: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/121523/automatic-proxy-and-proxy-detection-not-working Maybe that could be related?

I read the article. I checked the setting and it was already turned off. I did not toggle any individual field code setting manually either. Hence, I concluded that it is not a "Word setting". But what the article says is this at the bottom: When …

I just click on the Zotero icon in the Firefox toolbar when I am on that page.

No, it's not a word setting. But the article explains that it could have to do with track changes. I'll try to keep that in mind and see what happens.

Is the user warned somehow when there are unsynced files? If not, maybe there could be some exclamation mark on the sync button with further information in a tool-tip on hover?

Add me to the list of people who saw this message. For me it appeared after I answered the dialog about (manually) modified citations though I asked Zotero to undo the modifications and keep the fields updated. Annoyingly, it came up many times whi…

I see that it does not handle '&' vs 'and'. I found the github discussion for this and put it here for reference: https://github.com/zotero/zotero/issues/1580 By the way, Biblatex seems to handle it correctly. Maybe something could be learned …

I guess you know this, but I just checked Mendeley and they have the options I mentioned: https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u4723337/x7bp1kjuq871tddiieft.png

That is right. It seemed to me that the step from having the functionality to choosing which parts of a citation to omit (or format differently) would not be large, in particular since the author name omission is already implemented. Unfortunately,…

Yes, you can get "(A. Miller 2000)". But you cannot get "A. Miller" (without the brackets and year) and you cannot get "A. Miller (2000)". In both latter cases, you would have to manually take care of adding the initials just in case they are needed…

@adamsmith, since I seem to be asking in part for features that are already in the works, is there a list if those somewhere? I don't want to bother people unnecessarily.
-
The first request is also about using the author name in text as is the second. But, I take it, sometimes the author name is not immediately followed by the year hence the combination of author name and year will only give the reader a unique refere…

Thanks. I took it that I should disregard information on that page (since it seems inapplicable in my case) and just submit the following information: Debug ID: D390577201 Login URL scheme: https://ezp.sub.su.se/login?qurl=%u Proxied URL scheme: …

(I should have been a bit more nuanced with my comment. And I meant in no way to diminish Zotero's complexity. However, I still think that not being able to stop dialogs from closing and losing the information therein would be a deal-breaker for *ma…

Thanks. Sounds great. And thanks for the helpful link. Maybe put it somewhere in the Style Editor dialog. About the changing id and overwriting. That makes sense. But notice that as it is now, one seemingly straight forward way to change a style i…

Also, currently, the selected item is shown on top of the list. How a bout showing next items from the currently selected collection?

Just stumbled upon the same problem. Wouldn't it at least be rather easy to show in the list of suggestions in the modern view the collection(s) a reference is part of? Just dreaming...

Thanks for letting me know! Unfortunately, when adding new items to a muti-citation that need to go to the front, I will always face the problem of having the wrong pre- and postfixes and need to take care of them manually. It would be much more co…

Ah, interesting feature. Unfortunately, some features in Zotero are hidden in context menus and hard to discover. It is a shame to not discover such nice features that would be useful to many. It would be better if it would also be part of the main …

It would be great if such a feature could be added. It is common that one has to create a bibliography list, say for a course outline, without having cited the entries. Even better would be a feature where one not only can add items manually but als…

I don't see your explanation contradicting mine. I think that you are definitely right about "Plugins" because it just shows the plugins. But I think that you are wrong about "RTF Scan" on your own terms since "RTF Scan" requires additional input. H…

I see. Here is another thing that I was confused about. The page states: "These separate titles avoid cluttering the items list with duplicate metadata and prevent parent items from being unnecessarily expanded when searching for titles or creator…

Okay, thanks for clarifying. Then I should really not use the script. Since what I did was use the title that Zotero (

Sorry for being slow but it is still a bit confusing to me. I am still a little afraid to run the script. For example, I have many books where I meticulously named attached PDFs such that they correspond to chapter titles (but also include the book…

Thanks for your quick reply. I have read the linked page again. I did not find it easy to understand. But if I understand it correctly the benefit is: "These separate titles avoid cluttering the items list with duplicate metadata and prevent paren…

I am having the same problem with unexpected attachment titles. I don't understand what the benefit of attachment titles not being the filename. Or at least, it should be an option that they are. I actually new that the automatic file renaming was…

No institution/journal. No link to guidelines.

I wasn't aware of it actually. Thanks. I played around with it a bit but couldn't figure out how to match a certain delimiter for page numbers since the citation examples don't have them... Another thing I realised is that I could not find a easy w…
