If you mean http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/changes_not_syncing we have already reported the error message in a separate thread.

I am sorry, but I do not understand what I should do. You (and David) mention something called "The Upload ID". Where do I find this? And exactly what to you mean by "a link to this thread"? I am trying my best - and I have 25+ years of advanced…

I followed the instructions and uploaded the zotero.sqlite file (75 MB). After a while, I received a (modified, I assume) version of my zotero.sqlite file. Following this message from zotero, I installed this new zotero.sqlite file to replace the …

If I understand correctly, it is the database I have on my computer (not my database on the zotero server, neither the one I have on my WebDAV server). if so, the sheer size of it will prohibit an upload from home and I will have to wait until I ge…

Well, if you tell me exaclty what you mean by "your database" and describe in detail where I find it and how I go about to upload it, I wiil try.

OK. Thanks. I will explore these options and see which is best for our purposes.

I have looked but couldn't find a Zotero Quick Start anywhere in my library.

The Debug ID is D1329991853.

If I store my data on my own WebDAV server across the room, how can that affect the central Zotero server in any significant way? One of the reasons for using our own WebDAV server rather than the central Zotero server, was to minimise the load on …

I use the "Reset" option only to make absolutely sure that the syncing goes in the required direction. Namely that the data that I have gathered on the local machine gets kept there and copied to the so far empty archive on the remote WebDAV. Obvio…

I am referring to the "Zotero preferences" pane that pops up when you click "Preferences..." in the menu that pops up when you click on the "cogwheel" icon (no. 3 from the left) at the top of the Zotero pane. The "Zotero preferences" has eight butt…

I must have rebooted ten times and restarted Firefox twenty times but to no avail. Syncing against WebDAV just does not work in 2.1.3. The Zotero manual says that you shall click "Reset" to reset/acitvate a change of the syncing method. So I did t…

Here's what 2.1rc1 gives me: @article{allen_orbital_1992, title = {Orbital angular momentum of light and the transformation of {Laguerre-Gaussian} laser modes}, volume = {45}, lccn = {0812}, url = {http:…

I want full configurability of BibTeX entries. See my example above! I would have thought that there are quite a lot of LaTeX-ers who have already come up with a solution (javascript or otherwise). Don't feel like I want to reinvent the wheel onc…

I am not so keen on javascript. Does zotero support other scripting languages, such as perl?

About the site to look at: By extracting the journal name from the pdf file and then go to the journal''s web site and there search for the article based on the other data (volume, issue, page no, publication year) in the pdf file.

About BibTeX support, he most frustrating things that I have found so far are: 1. Too liberal a use of {} which limits the effects of bibstyle, possibly producing wrong results in terms of lower/upper case in TITLE. 2. No way to use …

If we all contribute with our "own journals" it would be feasible, I think... A good starting point would be a template with generic detection code and a few examples.

Of course I can do it manually, but my point was that I want it to be done automatically when I click on "Retrieve Metadata for PDF" for a group of files. Do it manually is not an option when the files for which the "Retrieve Metadata for PDF" did …

After only one day of using zotero, I have learned to like most of the things I have used. But I am somewhat disappointed by the low success rate of finding even very recent references in (in my case physics) journals. What would it take to includ…

One more thing. Now that I have downloaded a large amount of pdf files, I would like to extract metadata from all of them in one go. Haven't figured out how to do it - if at all possible...

That was the first thing I tried (in xubuntu 10.04) but nothing happened. It turned out that I did not wait long enough. Now I got that working. Slow but faster than picking files one by one.. Thanks!!

Good to hear that it is possible to select bulks. Still have to find out what "bulks" means. Tried a tarball with a dozen or so pdf files in it but that didn't work...

Thanks for all the help. With the "mystery of syncing" I meant the inner workings - not how to execute it (which is really trivial). With some guesswork I now think I understand that the copies of my pdf files are stored locally on my computer (in…

After being a TeX/LaTeX "power user" for over twenty years, I have no problem with the typesetting. I have managed to get a pdf file into zotero but it was not straightforward. I even managed to produce a BibTeX entry from it but don't approve of …
