If you click on the gear icon, chose preferences, and check the "Use Zotero for Downloaded Endnote Files" box Zotero should intercept other reference imports.

I would be happy to help you rally your colleagues around Zotero. I would suggest showing them some of our screencasts, or a few of our ever growing list of glowing reviews. If you or any of your colleagues have any questions feel free to email m…

I'm not particularly familiar with WebFeat, and I don't think the Mason library subscribes to the service but from their site I can see that it allows you to "export to bibliographic management packages like ProCite, EndNote and Refworks!" Zotero c…

Hi Susan, You should be able to right click on any collection or subcollection that has items in it and chose the option to "Export Collection". Can you see the option but it just wont allow you to chose it? You can also select all the items in a …

Hi Flora, Just to clarify are you using a footnote style? You may run into errors trying to use a non-footnote style in footnotes.
-
Hi Ransomca, I would probably use the Newspaper item, or a general document item type. Are there specific pieces of information about the item that you feel wouldn't be captured in these item types? Functionally, it would seem that a newsletter ha…

Thanks for the suggestion Andrew. Please post any suggestions for the interface in feature requests section of the forums. We like having all feature requests in a central location, it is easier for us to track them that way.

It is a great idea to start incorporating your self-generated documentary materials directly into Zotero. You can use collections to manage the different types of information. By creating collections and sub-collections for different kinds of materi…

Hi Ruth, Just to clarify, when you click on "My Library" in the left pane do you see anything in the center or right pane?

As I understand it, the cross platform versions of Firefox portable are a unique alteration of the code between the Mac and PC versions. I do not think you can currently update it to 2.0 and I am currently unaware of any version of Firefox 2.0 porta…

In the next few months there will be a easy way to sync several collections through the web. But for the time being there are a few options. If the machines were running on the same OS you could use Firefox portable on a USB drive. Sadly, while ther…

Hi aoconnor, Yes, You should be able to edit your citations after you put them in word using the plug-in, your citations are also editable if you export them to RTF files or to your clipboard. Are you having any difficulty doing this?

Thanks for his tip. I will add it to the new Tips Hacks and Tricks section we are developing for our documentation. Expect to see it there soon. thanks

It looks like this page is just flat text, there is no metadata in there for Zotero to work with. You could try playing around with cb2Bib. But I think the most efficient way would be to manually enter the sources you need into Zotero, or to find t…

Hi jazzygirl, You can capture a web snapshot of the page to save the bibliography as a item in your collection but if the bibliography is just text you will not be able to automatically import the biblography information into your collection for th…

thanks jersey_pine The page has been changed to reflect the correct author's name.

Hi TessaC, This is not exactly what you asked for but I think it may well solve your issues. The next beta release of Zotero will make a distinction between automatic tags and tags you have created. You will be able to toggle the automatic…

Thanks gzattler, You can sort by publication date in the middle column in the current developer version. Expect to see it in your version in the very near future. Yours, Trevor

You should also be able to open the Zotero pane by selecting the Tools drop down from the Firefox bar and selecting Zotero.
-
Hi ransomca, You will see another color of tag very soon! The next Zotero release will use the orange tags to denote automatic tags, tags that come from your initial capture of an item. Yours, Trevor

Thanks for making this Snosons. This opens up a whole new way to bring items into a Zotero collection. I think a lot of people will find this quite useful. I will add information on this to our Documentation later today.

I believe you can export a RIS file from CiteULike and import it into Zotero. It is under the "Export to Endnote/BibTeX" page. I think you should find it here. http://www.citeulike.org/export.adp Hope that helps, Yours, Trevor

Thanks for posting on this. I have edited the blog accordingly. It should now better describe the steps involved in making the switch from EndNote to Zotero. Yours, Trevor

I just tried to save references from OVID and it worked fine. Could you tell me specifically what resources you were trying to access through OVID?

Is this happening with all catalogs, or is it a issue with a specific catalog? Often these kinds of issues have to do with individual idiosyncrasies of specific catalogs.

You can now download the alpha for word integration from the blog.

We are close to releasing a alpha version of a template that will allow word integration. This will probably bring Zotero a lot closer to what you are looking for.

If what you are trying to do is transport your library from one computer to another it would probably be best not to switch them into a intermediate format. There are several ways to do this. I would recommend looking at these three threads for the …

As of beta 3 we now have a translator for Nature. Even better, Zotero supports the download of associated PDFs from Nature. We should have the documentation updated with the new translators later today.

Thanks for the great review bottleman. We are glad you are excited about Zotero and are grateful for your help spreading the word.
