The advantage of the current approach is everyone has access to changes. On ibid, I've been thinking that perhaps we shouldn't configure it on any author-date style. It's value is more apparent in note-based styles, and APA merely says it's optiona…

I think knowing price is really important, not only for students, but everyone who reads technical books (some of them cost hundreds dollars) will consider twice when they have cheaper options. Also weigth is pretty important when you have to pay sh…

What percentage of potential Zotero users would care about this information? I'd suggest it's something much, much less than 1 percent.
-
It's planned, but it's a non-trivial problem if you care about things like data portability, reliable formatting, etc. (which I do; a lot!). And, BTW, person shouldn't be an item type. There really needs to be an agent object/table, which can handl…

I think personally that the focus should be more on the nature of the content rather than on the medium through which it is delivered. So the conference session or paper presentation within that ought to be primary, and the fact that it's available …

b. If a range is separated with 'en dash' (which to my knowledge is more correct) ... Yes, it is (more correct). This seems to happen in all styles using the abbreviations "p." and "pp.", so I guess it is not controlled by the styles? The problem mu…

I suppose it could be handled on the translator's end instead of via CSL. Yes, this is NOT a bug in CSL or in the styles. Almost anything these days can be published online, so it doesn't make sense to make exceptions by type of resource. There are …

Except that "hierarchical items" as we've previously discussed them has not included anything other than component parts (chapters, etc.). It seems to me what JeffryS is asking for is rather different, and rather more complicated (for example, I'm n…

I've checked in a preliminary version of the law review version to the style repository, but I'm waiting on some bug fixes on the Zotero end to finish and announce it.

I agree this would be a nice feature, but I'm not sure exactly how one would do it from a UI and programming standpoint. Say you have inserted multiple bibliographies, for example. How would the macro code know what citation apply to what bibliograp…

Forgive my ignorance on CSL, but why couldn't I add the period to the text term itself (i.e. text term="ibid.")? Instead I had to add suffix="." which works, but seems unnecessary, since Ibid. will always have the period. The "term" is basically a l…

Actually all the dates are stored with the parsed date in SQL format in the database—for example, "November 30th, 2007" is stored as "2007-11-30 November 30th, 2007"— I'm aware of that (and that's good!); I was referring more to the funky dates that…

Any suggestions on how I might do this? Wait for Zotero 2.0, which will I'm almost certainly have this functionality.
-
Well, Zotero does try to be fairly smart about dates while at the same time allowing flexibility of input. "Summer 2000", for example, will be parsed as 2000 for use in sorting and in the UI but will show up as "Summer 2000" in Chicago, which I imag…

Items published over several years with a date like 1751-1772 only display 1751, though this problem may be in cite.js, not in the CSL. The problem is a rather large one if you consider data portability. Usually when dates get encoded in a structure…

Try the solution mentioned in this thread and let us know if that works or not.

This question has probably been asked 50 times. Please do a search, or read through the FAQ.

FWIW, my understanding is that Ubuntu uses a non-OOo-build of the suite. A lot of problems with OOo integration are solved by using an official build. E.g. if you run into further problems, report the bug ... to Ubuntu.

lcampbell: this is rather off-topic for this thread. See here.

Quick followup, after inspecting the ODF file. So here is a fragment of the bibliography: [entry] [entry] ... and here is the style: So, it's actually correctly encoded at the document leve…

OK, this is weird. I fixed the problem by, first, installing the dev xpi. That didn't solve it. What did was to install a new style that I created from the Zotero style repo, and then switch that. Problem now solved. Hopefully that's enough to fix t…

OK, found it, and installed. That indeed fixed this problem (though not the sorting).
-
No, Sean. Can you give some suggested protocols on this? Should I just install the dev beild (I forget how ATM, though know it's been mentioned), and always rely on that?
-
The problem with the way Zotero does formatting now is it assumes users don't use styles to configure formatting. Everything is done with blunt presentational formatting. So rather than, for example, tag each entry with a style that includes line-s…

I'm not sure what you mean by sorting - do you mean the alphanumeric order of the entries is out-of-whack and isn't corrected by refreshing? Yes. If so, have you tried completely closing the document and also Firefox and then reopening both and refr…

I'm using a "bibliography" paragraph style, where I control the spacing. I've just made a custom style for my bibliographies and added that to the default template I use. I have this style set for single-spacing, and it works just fine with APA bibl…

Yes, you are correct. I think the GD team will need to add support for this kind extensibility.

elena: This was a weakness in the initial design of Zotero that is now pretty much fixed, in part because search and reports features have been redesigned to select individual notes. But that doesn't mean that individual notes are not fundamentally …

I add a web page that if printed might be 50 pages long. Within this page are paragraphs that pertain to several different collections. I understand your thinking here, but you're asking Zotero to do what it is not really designed to do in my view. …

Creating styles for statute, bill, case, and hearing in bluebook style. Do you have any additional information on these types? I'm really busy, but I've been promising forever to finish a Bluebook style. I'll try to get at last something rudimentary…
