OK, I think I sorted it - I had some PDFs that weren't associated with records. I added them to the references and the error stopped. I'm not sure why the got detached from their references though.

Sounds good to me. If you're dropping the whole platform how will the app be developed - will it be a native app on each platform? Will it end up being a universal windows platform app or a regular win32 app?

OK, thanks. But I'm not clear - does the visual editor actually edit the style file as stored in the repository? I only really want to edit it locally for the paper, if I edit say line spacing on the ACS style, does it change the official ACS style?

All good, I didn't have the Zotero 5 beta plugin installed in Firefox. I updated that and the error went away.

Is there a version of this plugin for the Zotero 5 beta? It currently won't install. The Scannable cite output style is already there in Zotero 5 but the RTF scan does not have the ODF option from the plugin.

I mean for records that already have metadata, I know that I can retrieve metadata from a PDF if there is nothing there already.

That's great, thanks for looking into this. I just trusted Endnote was getting it right which was a mistake! This means I can give Zotero a go with the paper I am currently writing. Thanks again Adam and fbennett
