I mean a global shortcut for Zotero so you can call the Zotero picker from any software without the need of a plugin. Like that: http://support.readcube.com/support/solutions/articles/30000024001-magic-citations-on-papers-3-for-mac (again it works w…

I agree with @emilianoeheyns 's observations on the "universal citekey" proposed by Papers. There are different moving parts to solve the problem of editor agnostic citing: - an interface to search and cite "at the OS level" (a global shortcut) - …

Cool project. I hop we can have this feature in Zotero: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/68793/feature-request-magic-citations-as-in-papers
-
This should work out of the box: no script, no plugin. Today inserting citation is a mess except on MS Word and Libre Office. I should be able to set a global shortcut that launches the zotero picker and insert a citekey in any document. This would…

@emilianoeheyns It's certainly not perfect but it's millions times better than using database ID or only author's name and date. With this system it becomes *possible* to work on the same document with different person using different reference man…

I see. I posted on both Zotero and asked Scrivener dev multiple time. If they want to be serious about academic writing, they need to support a citation manager. Now I fully understand that you can't support a lot of different systems. Having a goo…

Yes I was thinking mostly about notification when I add an entry from Firefox with the connector. I didn't know they was produced by the connector. Thanks for this explanation. For future reference this is the API now https://developer.mozilla.or…

Ok. So we need a better way :).

Oh I see. So I just contacted cairn on FB, will see if they are ok to fix that on their side. I feel that if they want to force the download of the PDF they should use the "download" attribute https://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_download.asp and if…

The connector/zotero (I don't really understand if the problem if it's Zotero or the connector that is taking care of that) shouln't follow a couple of redirection?

Chrome tracking is not present in Chromium and Electron. Yet some Electron API do make external call to google services: https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/7306 Using those API (localisation, voice recognition, ...) is, of course, optional…

Qt can run JavaScript and have official binding but I understand you want to stay in the same environment (a browser). I still think electron app are not that good for the user: https://josephg.com/blog/electron-is-flash-for-the-desktop/ XULrunner …

Thanks!

"consequence of extension API difference between firefox and chrome" I do not agree. You can use polyfill: https://github.com/mozilla/webextension-polyfill . An other way is to implement interface for each browser to abstract API call. Even if this…

It's actually not showing in italic in Zotero but with <i>Hukou</i> . Anyway displaying strange char is a bug as 99% of the user don't get what it is and PDF file name will be ugly. So if we want to support HTML in title…

Didn't append again for the moment. Classic, when you are ready to catch a bug... it's afraid and hide.
-
I can confirm all tabs are affected. I will capture a new Debug ID when it occur again.
-
I try to reset the translators, didn't works. I can't disable my others extensions for hours before the bug show up (I use them to work). The Debug ID log was showing some error about translation.
-
I see. Juris-m is going to start a port to the V5... perhaps it's a good time to see if it can be merged. Thanks for the info.
-
Why juris-m is not merged in Zotero, at least some part? Not everybody is working all day with legal references, but almost everybody will need to references some laws at some point.

In fact the problem occur with any kind of page, I started a new tread: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/65765/zotero-5-firefox-plugin-stop-detecting-web-page-type-after-a-while
-
Oh thanks, I didn't know that. So The Debug ID is D886312143 that record the following actions: - Went on the tab with the PDF open in the build-in PDF reader - Click on the Zotero Icon
-
It append again with this URL http://www.environmental-research.com/publications/pdf/spill_costs/paper4.pdf I tried to create a debug ID but nothing is recorded (it's on the browser plugin side I guess). Nothings show up in the browser console. I t…

Zotero Connector 5.0.0. It works now.. but It was not before (and I checked the over texte it was "Web page with snapshot) I also tried to reload the page, etc. before posting the bug. But now I'm not able to reproduce this issue anymore, strange.

"That said, I see no reason to rush this." I can't wait for having only the standalone version and one similar add-on on all browsers. That will simplify documentation and user support. In my opinion, bugs are not the only problems with software, so…

On macOSX. Now it works.. don't know why. Anyway I made this debug id: D108489963.

Lookup engine it's a nice to have, but it doesn't work with the news Firefox plugin (similar to the chrome one) and standalone Zotero. Anyway having to test lookup engine until one works is not very user-friendly. We can add a setting in the prefer…

@Rintze I already contacted multiple time my university, government and other institutions about open access and various other questions related to access to informations and transparency. Related to Zotero, I understand your position and I think …

If Zotero use by default sci-hub, universities will save millions dollars by years (a lot of university pay by download). "accessing copyrighted material via Sci-hub is certainly illegal in the US" but proposing an option to use sci-hub when the ar…

1) DebugID: D1295080859 I had success with drag& drop of multiple files. In fact, the problem is an UX one: when you drag one file from Zotero in the Finder you can see the selected file in "transparency" but if you drag more than one file you…
