Hmm, Scary but effective for technodummies! I'm using Windows. I changed it to en-GB and the dates now look "normal" to me. However it would be really nice to have a date option (or a general set of appearance options) in "Options". Thanks

Thanks for this answer. It wasn't obvious to me either until I read this.

Thanks. Looking forward to it! JT

Thanks Dan, With that information and some extra help this trouble is now shot! Exactly the same problem occurred today on my desktop computer at work as it was upgraded to a newer computer. Precisely the same error message and errors in loadin…

ISBNdb - looks like it could grow to be quite useful! http://isbndb.com/ From their website. ISBNdb.com project is a database of books providing on-line and remote research tools for individuals, book stores, librarians, scientists, etc. Ta…

I use several computers and keep my Zotero database on an external drive. I use the copy of Firefox that is on the computer I am using and point it at the Zotero database. This can be done by 1. Moving the Zotero database you are using to the ext…

PS I note this is the subject of a ticket (Ticket #1299) but my publisher and place error is in Zotero 1.0.9 not 1.5 as in the exisitng ticket.

Yes thanks, Zotero has updated, and it's great to have it working again. However when adding a book, the translator is still not adding the publisher and place of publication. (An example in case you need it http://www.google.com.au/books?id=AgDSGwA…

Is that the same as Preferences > Advanced > "Reset translators and styles"?

Thanks - the usual prompt accurate info from you people. So much better to deal with than other software forums! ( And it worked, although the Google site is a bit slow to fully load) JT

I have a similar problem. It is a Zotero database integration problem like the one above. I have a primary version of Zotero (1.0.7 attached to Firefox portable) on a USB stick which I have just successfully transferred to an external drive. (The da…

I noticed something similar. If I use the "copy to clipboard" function in "Create bibliography from selected item" to create a bibliography of say, one item, and then paste it into a Word document, the pasted item always sits a centimeter or so to t…

Ah, I think what was confusing me was the supposition you needed a separate "book' title from the 'chapter' title to get Item X "in" Item Y, not simply the addition of a set of editors. I am glad to have it clarified that you don't. (PS it worked…

I have another "how do you cite this" question. Normally I can fudge fields to show all the relevant information, but this one has me stumped. (Colloquial Australian cricket playing expression) Its a conference but the publication is "in" anot…

Just had a series of crashes of FF3 (and Zotero 1.0.6) when attempting to add a library item from Sage Journals database. The last item that crashed FF3 and Zotero was Keulartz, J., Schermer, M., Korthals, M., & Swierstra, T. (2004). Ethic…

I've had a few goes at recreating the problem. Oddly it seems to be working offline for now even without proxy connection , at least on my work computer. I'll have another go at replicating the circumstances on a couple of other computers.

Ok, I think this is it. The error report function reported this seven times. (Its the only error) [JavaScript Error: "t.select is not a function" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/itemPane.js" line: 1097}] The ID number for the report is 126747…

Thanks for the scroll-wheel tip too. I believe there is a sex difference between men (scrollers) and women (non-scrollers) so I tend not to think about the use of the scroll-wheel as an option.

In addition to the Edit window suggested above, breaking up tags on import is the obvious solution, but there might be times when you actually want a longish tag. Allowing the edge of the tag column to kern and /or wrap tags would permit this.
-
PhDinHistory said "It would be nice to have a way to identify the really long tags so that I could shorten them." I heartily second that! Only after I got the scroll bar back could I go through the tags with any ease to shorten them. Before t…

Bingo! I have gone through both those collections that still caused problems. (That is, those imported from EndNote) The scroll bar returned when I got the max number of characters in tag fields (including spaces) under about 110 characters, wi…

Hmm, I just checked each of my 'collections" for tag selector scroll bar problems and they all work except two. Both of these were originally imported from EndNote. (I have retained my imports from EndNote in separate collections. ) Why one of the…

I have just sent an email with the screenshot attached. I think this might be an issue with some of the auto tags lacking proper separators - there seem to be some groups of imported tags separated by semicolons which are not being read as separa…

Not sure how to send the screenshot?

Hi, I have just today installed Firefox 3 and Zotero 1.0.6. (previously running FF 2 x and Zotero 1.0.4) Most things appear to work fine, but I have lost the vertical scroll bar on the tag selector window. ("Collections" still has its scroll ba…

Thanks. I guess my point was it stopped and started again without any major troubleshooting. Thus finding the actual software problem might be difficult even though instances of it are sometimes not. Seems others have had the same experience from…

I just got this error too. It appeared to be generated by some combination of manually editing and using the edit bibliography window. I tried deleting the bibliography and re adding it but that only got the same error so I used "undo" in Word to re…

This is a "babe in the woods" comment, but it would be just great to visualise semantic relations dynamically like Visual thesaurus, http://www.visualthesaurus.com/ only with the links as well as the nodes descriptively labeled (nodes = items in lib…

...and a search around the forums revealed this... http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/2975/ Dan Stillman says Fixed in the latest dev build. 1.0.5 will be out soon with this fix and others. Thanks.

You're right. I just checked mine ( I too use USB stick ) Some of the tags with a pink icon - those imported, don't show up in the tags pane, and some do. I have not yet identified what the difference is, but the ones that don't (so far) came from …
