The order on the new computer doesn't matter. You should set the base directory on the old computer as the very first step (though Zotero tries to get this right even if you skip that step -- but no reason to rely on that).

The only way to do the abbreviation then is to uncheck the box in the preferences and to make sure you have the right abbreviation under Journal Abbr. in Zotero. (The style should be available in the next 20mins or so)
