Hi, I'd like to just re-affirm how useful it would be to have some sort of indicator to let the user know that there are related items.
-
I still think this would be a very useful feature. :)
-
I also support this request - searching in all fields would be very helpful.

Just to echo the sentiment of those who have asked for hierarchical coding (and I've already chimed in once). Much of the literature on qualitative data analysis (which is one of those places where tagging ["coding"] of data has been a central conc…

Any word on when it might be possible for non-programmer types to create or edit styles? Is the CSL editor being actively developed?

Agreed with everyone, zotfile is great. I would suggest a multi-stringed forum, somewhere, if possible -- I have tried to search to see if my question has been asked before, but couldn't really figure it out. Apologies for that. A question -- is t…

That totally worked. The files themselves went. I was able to group them all, in Windows 7, by including them in a library and sorting the library by file type. Thanks!

Just to give newcomers a bit of context, this is a request that was made a long time ago. Here are links to earlier iterations of the discussion: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/8239/multiple-dates-for-published-and-republished http://forums.…

I think anginara is looking for a way to actually remove all of those PDFs from the Zotero directory and place them in a folder elsewhere, attached by links, no? Not sure what system you are on, anginara. For windows, searching the zotero director…

Hi, I've just begun using the indexing feature of Zotero. It would be great to add the following advanced search feature: "Indexing" : "status equals" : with options "indexed", "partially indexed" and "unindexed".

So, I left it all night but this morning the "not responding" situation was still in place and I had to force a close of zotero. i reset the limits again, this time for 2million characters and 400 pages per item. Initially, zotero seemed to be doi…

Thanks. Still spinning, 4 hours later. I'll check back in the morning and hope it has reached some resolution. Odd that the 1.5 million characters and max pages 300 setting was "relatively" fast at doing the indexing, whereas this time around it…

After setting my character limit per item to 3 million and the max number of pages to be indexed to 500, and then setting Zotero to rebuild the index, Zotero seems to begin to rebuild the index and then stalls, I get a circling symbol ('please wait'…

Thanks for your response, Dan. Those items are all (or at least 99%) indexable via Acrobat's own convoluted indexing features, and also are indexable via Windows after I've installed the PDF ifilter. So it seems odd that so many of them would be…

Quick follow up -- I just realized I could "only index unindexed items" so I've done that. Still not sure why Zotero stopped indexing, though. EDIT: OK, Zotero has definitely stopped indexing, with half of my items either incompletely indexed or …

14 hours later, my indexing stats are: Indexed: 3921 Partially: 1267 Unindexed: 1618 The statistics have stayed like that for the past hour or so, at least, so that it seems that Zotero has stopped indexing at this stage. I am quite sure tha…

Thanks. I'm going for 1500000 characters and 300 pages. Will report back on my experience...

Hi, I'm checking in on this too. Does Zotero 3.x use CSL 1.0? And is there now support for date ranges in Zotero? Finally, does this mean that Zotero is close to supporting original date of publication? Thanks for any news or insight.
-
Agreed, this would be very helpful. Hope it is implemented soon. Thanks very much.

I had a post here about how grateful I am for Zotero, and about how this conversation revealed a bit of a divergence between how endusers approach this kind of issue compared with developers. I've deleted it. Bruce writes that "As fbennett sugge…

Just wanted to say that I'm very excited about zotpad. I checked ot the zotero-dev discussion and see that development is proceeding rapidly. Thar's great news. Thanks for working on this.
-
Agreed agreed -- this would be so helpful. The solution proposed by Gracile is quite good. Another option would be for there to be a small note attached to the entry -- just as when you write a note in the notes tab. Then you could click on the a…

Perhaps when developers address the "more sort by columns" issue, they could take a look at more advanced sorting options (i.e., sorting by multiple columns)?
-
I'm finding that many author names pulled from the internet using site translators (google books for instance) are importing periods after authors' middle initials. So that much of my database actually includes the periods... Is this an issue tha…

Could and indeed is it. How odd. Thanks!

Great progress has been made on this issue. Creators now sort by lastname, then firstname. I'm still quite interested in being able to sort by columns... any chance developers could take this up? For instance, it would be great to switch from a vi…

It would be great to have a built-in way for Zotero to do a check of the database and provide a transcript. I'm python illiterate and hope to remain so. Thanks.

Hi, I'm using zotfile 1.6.0 The new options interface looks great, and I'm excited about future plans for working with readers. Great work. I'm experiencing the following with Zotfile after upgrading to 1.6.0: I use zotfile to move items from my …

Just wanted to express support for the idea of adding "pseudo sentence" case to the Transform Text dropdown list (i.e., in addition to lower case and Title Case). Thanks.

Thanks! This didn't come up in a search I did for keyboard shortcuts. I don't actually find a list of keyboard shortcuts -- is there one? There's info on how to change the default keyboard shortcuts here: http://www.zotero.org/support/preferences/…
