Everything is in the library (and can optionally be in one or more collections), so nothing is ever incorrectly in the library. You can hold down a modifier key (ctrl on linux/windowd; option on mac) to see what collections an item belongs to. …

Rather than just taking a snapshot, why don't you "create new item from current page?" This will create a bibliographic record of the web page & will have a snapshot as a child of that record.

Braces are the correct way to do this and they don't just apply to natbib--bibtex treats pieces enclosed within braces as a single token. They are used to: (1)Protect against case changes ("Properties of {Al--Sc} Alloys" would never become "Prope…

Zotero to del.icio.us is planned: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/1139/delicious-integration/#Item_2 I don't know if del.icio.us to zotero has been discussed. It might be somewhat related to firefox bookmarks to zotero, which is planned …

Slow performance with thousands of records is not unusual at this time. You can disable or lengthen the time for the messages concerning the slow script speed if they are irksome (but this won't improve performance).

The xpi is a zip file. If you unzip it, you will be able to edit install.rdf & rezip it. There may also be extensions to let you bypass the version check (nightly tester tools, etc.) I imagine that the Zotero devs will update the Floc…

Re. the resource type: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/969#Item_10 DOI has a ticket open at: https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/684 (but DOI support for other types might need to be added)

Notes may not be as effective as highlighting to draw attention to a particular point. I suppose that, for some workflows, it might be nice to be able to generate multiple reports with different notes. Annotations could be a reasonably easy wa…

scot has a good point re. capacity. Maybe a full-blown wiki wouldn't be overkill! However, several people split across multiple tiddlywikis & the tiddlywiki ChangeLog shows that they have been adding features to help users who do this.

Not really. I keep most of my notes in LaTeX. I do have collaborative notes on MediaWiki+refbase, but that is possibly overweight for a single user (ditto for the many other other Apache+MySQL+PHP/perl/python options). TiddlyWiki (and various…

Taking a step back: the original data is in MARC, which Zotero can import. Perhaps the best short term solution is to ask that the MARC records be made available for download & to check whether those successfully import? Assuming they work…

RDF is probably the best for import/export & MODS is probably second (the others are more limited in what they can represent). See other threads if you're only trying to the complete library in two machines that don't need to be simultaneously …

You can use scaffold.

Endnote does not, so far as I know, have a method to import notes. So I'm afraid that you may have to copy/paste.

(Offtopic) I don't use Tomboy myself, but will point out that it can limp along in Windows: http://live.gnome.org/Tomboy/Win32 I'll also point out that Linux supports the most common hot keys on tablets out-of-the-box with most distros &a…

Zotero apparently can't annotate content within html frames. A work around is to snapshot only the content frame (rt click->this frame->show only this frame).

"Standalone" notes are already sortable by name. Notes that are children of an item are currently always sorted by when the note was originally added.

scot: it is great to see you going above-and-beyond for support! It would be nice to have a FAQ entry re. backup. I realize portable versions are a bit of moving target, but perhaps not so much so that it's not worth keeping helping people find the…

The auto-linking plugin is including the closing bracket again. I'll try to stop using the closing bracket, but the habit is hard to break.

I'm using portable firefox version 4.0 for Mac OSX.Given the version number, I think you're using the one I linked to.The link you posted sends me to a "404 Not Found."There seems to be a minor bug in the way links between angle brackets are rendere…

If you're an advanced user who wants to get their hands dirty, the Zotero API should still allow you to make these kinds of edits & you might ask questions or describe limitations about the API (as that will help everyone). An additional benefi…

Which copy of firefox portable are you using? You're on a Mac, right? Some versions keep the profile within the .app bundle by default. The most recent version of: http://www.freesmug.org/portableapps/firefox keeps it at: "Portable F…
